The Digital Transformation Lead (DT) reports into the Vice President Global Technical Operations (GTO) and is a strategic leadership role spanning end to end digital and knowledge management leadership for GTO. Head of Digital Transformation is responsible to ensure that the GTO operations is digitally transformed and ready for the challenges and opportunities of the quickly changing digital world. Leads the collaboration with value chain partners such as Global Operations, IT, Supply Chain, Research & Development, and Quality & Regulatory on digital initiatives and ensures the success of the transformation program through cross-functional synergies. Leads the creation of Digital Strategy, design of digital programs, and roadmaps as enablers for the elements of the Strategic Plan to meet BioOPs 2025 objectives. Supports the People & Culture element of the Strategic Plan to transform the culture and mindset to make it more digital oriented to drive the success BioOps Digital Transformation. Coordinates and guides different cross-functional digital use cases across the organization and to act as a key influencer for these digital initiatives.

What you will do:

  • Develop GTO Digital vision, Digital strategy, Governance Framework, Data driven transformation approach, Data strategy and Roadmap to value creation accordance with BioOPs 2025 vision.
  • Facilitate and coordinate across GTO the creation of an inventory of digital skills, capabilities, and investments to track progress over time.
  • Engage with stakeholders from Global Operations, IT, Supply Chain, R&D, and Quality & Regulatory and serve as single point of contact to them on digital collaboration.
  • Actively assess, analyze, prioritize and manage the portfolio of digital initiatives and identify opportunities to scale or accelerate the Digital Transformation.
  • Build tools to enable effective Product Knowledge Management by working closely with the Product CMC teams.
  • Automate current manual processes (e.g. Digital Tech Transfer, lab automation, BOTS for repetitive work).
  • Enable data driven insights for continuous improvement and CoGM reduction.
  • Build capability for in-silico experimentation, modelling and simulation.
  • Pioneer Digital tools, processes as AstraZeneca builds new continuous manufacturing facilities.
  • Influence and engage with GTO LT and other key stakeholders to be able to influence company/GTO digital priorities and projects as appropriate.
  • Ensure network digital maturity to improve network performance on par with best in class in the industry.
  • Influence decision making on digital topics and support communications on progress updates from the Digital Ops 2025 initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in relevant scientific discipline
  • Understands future business drivers, strategic imperatives, and vision of future enabling technologies and capabilities, scouts digital technology trends, disruptions and benchmarks and provides inputs to the Strategic Plan
  • Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders within AstraZeneca
  • 12+ years of cross-functional experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • years of leadership experience
  • 5 years of Data strategy, Data driven decision support systems & analytics
  • 5 year of digital project experience
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment regulated by the FDA

Desired Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of the latest technical/scientific biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing
