THE ROLE:
PULSE is a new branded entertainment studio and creative consultancy offering full-service marketing solutions that connect brands to consumers via content and experiences marked by HUMOR, HEART and HEAT (cultural relevance)! Pulse also serves as Hartbeat’s internal creative and social media agency providing creative services and social content for the Hartbeat’s owned and operated brands (including Laugh Out Loud and Women Write Now).
We are seeking a culturally attuned, inspiring creative leader to build and guide a team of creative directors, designers, copywriters, videographers content strategists & producers. They will thrive on leveraging cultural, creative and social insights to form big ideas and unique activations for some of the biggest and boldest brand and advertisers in the world. From :30 second ad spots, and socially-distributed short-form content, to branded documentaries or live events – and everything in between this Executive, Creative Director will lead Pulse in delivering results-driving, culture-shifting award-winning creative to take Hartbeat, its family brands and all of our brand partners to the next level of creative excellence.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
CREATIVE LEADERSHIP
- Own and drive the creative vision for Pulse
- Strategically guide creative work for Hartbeat’s brand AND all of our brand partners who seek to advertise on or integrate with Hartbeat’s multi-platform ecosystem (content, media, live events, etc.)
- Lead, manage and develop a team of creative professionals, including creative directors, art directors, copywriters, and designers.
- Inspire teams to push creative boundaries and leverage insights to focus on the right problems and audience truths.
- Drive the team to crafts stories and activations that help brands make an impact in the world.
- Push beyond expected audience insights, especially about multicultural Millennials and Zers
- Translate concepts into compelling strategic narratives and effectively create impactful presentations .
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in the advertising and creative industries and apply them to our work.
- Manage the Creative Studio’s department’s budget
- Attract, recruit and retain top-tier creative talent
HARTBEAT BRAND STEWARDSHIP
- Partner with EVP, Marketing to tell Hartbeat’s story in the most impactful, breakthrough ways possible across three important audiences: Consumers, Creators, and Advertisers.
- Partner with leaders across the company to ensure the brand’s creative vision is consistent with broader company vision and initiatives.
- Oversee creative execution of marketing campaigns and ad initiatives for Hartbeat’s brand, content (audio, tv, film and live) – to include but not limited to key art, ad campaign creatives, series/branding, social media campaigns
BRANDED ENTERTAINMENT CONSULTING
- Create specific strategies, programs, content and experiences that resonate with advertisers and drive revenue
- Present creative work to existing and potential clients at all levels of the business; from top to bottom of an organization
- Connect the dots between various project elements, including client needs, brand/design positioning, and competitive analysis.
- Collaborate closely with the Brand Partnerships and Strategy teams to ensure that creative work is delivered on time and within budget.
- Partner with Head of Sales to sell in culture-shifting, bottpm-line driving brand partnership initiatives to end clients/advertisers
- Create scalable brand-forward campaigns that find the intersection between advertiser’s business goals and Hartbeat’s content, media and experiential offerings.
- Combine user insights, strategic thinking, beautiful design and storytelling, to create results-driving, award-worthy, culture-shifting creative campaigns for Hartbeat’s brand partners
- Integrate artists, brands and IP into content and experiences in a relevant, effective way.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- 12+ years experience overall and 7+ years of management experience
- Significant experience working on innovative entertainment based projects and campaigns where content and experiential have played a central role
- Must have experience in a central role at creative agency, in-house creative department, or branded content studio
- A diverse portfolio of integrated and innovative, cross-platform work.
- Is comfortable both formulating strategy and implementing against that vision.
- Is a creator and enjoys rolling up their sleeves to build new ideas or experiences.
- Deep understanding of audiences, trends and insight, with the ability to apply this knowledge to all project
- Avid consumer of media and social media, with a proven understanding of how to plan content roll out across a broad range of channels and platforms
- Creative strategy experience on the corporate or agency side is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and the proven ability to influence at multiple levels of the organization.
- Excellent communicator, pitcher
- Proven ability to think strategically and creatively, while maintaining great attention to detail.
- Strategic mindset including interpreting data to inform strategy and execution.
- Ability to build strong collaborative relationships with a diverse range of partners.
- Highly skilled storyteller that writes stylized pitch presentations, and can build a clear, compelling strategic narrative that helps to set up and frame creative work.
- Strong project management and leadership skills
- Outstanding attention to detail, while still working under tight timelines

Compensation Range: $225K - $280K
