Media and Communications Specialist
Lolli & Pops is looking for a motivated, creative individual to work as a Media & Communications Specialist. The ideal candidate is someone personally and professionally engaged on social media, connected within public relations and media outlets, and one who can use their communications passion to engage with our community, followers, and loyal guests. In general, this position is responsible for generating and supporting brand buzz around and about Lolli & Pops.
The Media & Communications Specialist loves creating thumb-stopping content that engages and connects with our ever-expanding audience as we continue to be a leader within the retail industry of premium candy and confections. Having a passion for inclusivity and engaging global communities, the Media & Communications Specialist will be responsible for producing, curating, and distributing informative, high-value social and digital content, press releases, media collaboration decks, and a dedication for creative storytelling that influences, educates, and involves our audiences over many different consumer cycles, seasons, journeys and stages.
This role will be responsible for planning and executing social media campaigns and social-first content, both organic and paid, to bring our stories to life and grow the Lolli & Pops community. This position requires a strong digital proficiency on Instagram, Tik Tok, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Reddit, and Pinterest. This candidate will be in touch with pop culture and know-how to copy-write and copyedit platform-native content. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong vision for building and activating a diverse community of guests and excited to roll up their sleeves and work alongside our brand, creative, and marketing and merchandising teams to secure relevant content to pitch to press, media, and social channels. They'll be comfortable with each day being different, troubleshooting projects and thinking ahead for effective time-management, as well as creative problem solving.
Key responsibilities include developmental support for overall digital brand and marketing strategies, multi-channel marketing and press campaigns, assistance of cross-departmental communications, and special focus on Organic and Paid social media, media communications and outreach, and content curation and development. The Media & Communications Specialist works
closely with Marketing, Store Operations, and Merchandising departments to achieve high-growth digital, public relations, and social media goals. This role is highly visible offering exposure to company executives and a significant opportunity to drive high-impact results and career progression.
Key priorities: Promote Lolli & Pops Brand Awareness through Social Content Development and Curation, Media Relations, and Storytelling with Insight into Effective Digital Trends
Duties Include
Well-versed across multiple social media platforms, i.e., Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Reddit
Oversee, schedule, and manage planning, content calendars, reporting, and optimizations across all social media platforms
Skilled at creating digital creative assets and content for stories, static feeds, live feeds, videos, gifs, contests, giveaways, influencer collaborations
Understand & continue development of specific brand voice required for each social media platform to target different audience verticals
Partner with Creative to refine content needs for social media platforms, developing a strong visual personality and style guide for social media - incorporating GIFs, native video, illustration, animation, graphic design, and photography
Remain highly adaptable, flexible, and organized to pivot content publishing plans
Ability to multitask and manage multiple work streams
Trend-spot & research social media and pop culture, with important attention & adaptation to ever-changing algorithms within digital platforms required to expand brand recognition
Analyze top performing products and campaigns to leverage and increase followers, impressions, click-thru, & ROAS for brand awareness, lead generation, and conversions
Develop and execute towards objectives and KPIs across social media accounts, reporting of key performance levels on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis
Identify and build relationships with digital content partners, brands, influencers, and tastemakers
Assess, analyze, and develop digital efficiencies across social media trends and implement paid social ads
Establish best practices and analyze competitor activity to share with cross-functional team members
Act as a thought partner for quarterly marketing campaigns and work with our creative team to create social and digital content for product launches, brand activations, and cultural moments
Work with a team player mindset and willingness to travel to retail locations as needed
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in marketing preferred but not required
3+ years of progressive responsibility in social media and digital marketing within Retail, eCommerce, Agency and/or Consumer Product Goods
3+ years of maintaining media communications and public relations, producing press releases, attaining publicity across digital and print editorials, pitching key media stakeholders, preparing and managing a PR plan
Prior experience developing social media content that grew follower base and increased engagement across multiple social media platforms preferred: Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Reddit
Extremely proficient in social media metrics and social listening tools
Experience with digital platforms and applications strongly preferred: Google Analytics, Klaviyo, Shopify Plus, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva
Strong combination of project and time management, analytical foresight, budget awareness, and creative skills
Strong knowledge of project management process and familiarity with a workflow and/or project management system
Experience styling and producing photo and video shoots - concept to completion, as well as curated content
Experience developing social media strategy, digital advertising, organic and paid media
Experience managing and coordinating a monthly social content calendar
Extremely strong copywriting and copyediting skills with eye for detail
Strong interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication and an ability to influence teams across the organization
An innate understanding of what will resonate with our community and the light-hearted, optimistic touch required to bring the Lolli & Pops culture to life

Compensation: $42K-$50K, DOE
