About The Job
With over 250 employees across the United States, Connected maintains a strong presence in the industry across multiple markets. The company has recently expanded into Arizona and Florida with ambitious national expansion plans underway. Connected's mission has always been to breed, grow, and sell the best cannabis in the world, setting high standards for its products, people, and partners wherever we go. As we expand our presence in the Florida and Arizona markets, we are seeking a Director of Marketing Operations to join our team.
Reporting to the VP, Marketing, the Director of Marketing Operations will manage our expansion markets in Florida and Arizona, while contributing to the development and execution of our national marketing strategy at large. This individual will work closely with the executive team and our licensed partners to translate the national brand and marketing strategy into a tactical, localized marketing plan and execute that plan. This role is currently based in Florida, with extensive in-state travel and regular travel to Arizona and California. This is an excellent opportunity to shape new and growing cannabis markets with a premium brand at the forefront of the cannabis industry.
What You Will Do
- Market Expansion: Lead marketing operations in our expansion markets of Florida and Arizona, managing the rollout of our premium cannabis products and upholding our company's high standards for products, people, and partners. Manage marketing budgets, track performance metrics, and optimize marketing investments for maximum impact.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute significantly to the development of corporate marketing strategies, translating brand strategy and positioning into tactical marketing plans that resonate with our target customers in expansion markets.
- Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborate closely with the senior leadership team, the VP of Marketing, and our licensed partners to ensure cohesive execution of marketing plans across all markets.
- Brand Management: Uphold and enhance the Connected and AlienLabs brand image, ensuring that all marketing activities align with our mission to breed, grow, and sell the best cannabis in the world. Oversee the development of creative assets, including digital and print materials, to support product launches, promotions, and events.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on the performance of new products, marketing campaigns and initiatives, using data to inform future strategy and planning. This includes regular presenting to internal and external stakeholders.
- Team Management: Develop and lead a high-performing marketing team, providing coaching, mentoring, and performance management to support professional growth and achievement of business objectives.
- Travel: Be prepared for extensive in-state travel and regular travel to Arizona and California to coordinate with partners and oversee marketing activities.
- National Strategy Development: Work closely with the VP of Marketing, HQ leadership and the HQ marketing team to build a national strategy and plan for executing on it, ensuring our brand's successful expansion and consistent performance across all markets.
- Industry Awareness: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes to adjust strategies as needed and maintain our leading position in the cannabis market. Owning ongoing reports and share outs on each expansion market.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with all stakeholders, ensuring alignment on marketing goals and strategies, and promoting a collaborative working environment.

What We Are Looking For
Professional Qualifications
This role is focused on delivering projects and results. The ideal candidate will bring rigorous operational execution along with creative, branding, and strategic thinking. Given the newness of the category and regulatory complexities, marketing tactics range from conventional channel and retail to the latest digital brand and influencer programs. Additional qualifications include:
- 5+ years of experience in growth and field marketing roles for a consumer brand, lifestyle premium categories preferred, but not required.
- Proven experience managing and strengthening licensed partner relationships across multiple states.
- Great commercial acumen and proven track record of success translating brand and strategy positioning into tactical marketing plans that drive customer growth.
- Deep understanding of Florida regulatory framework and the medical marijuana market in the state.
- Ability to interpret marketing vision and drive value adding insights to increase market share or drive volumes.
- Successful track record creating best-in-class, digital marketing capabilities and programs to drive brand affinity and sales. Ability to innovate, develop and execute against all product initiatives.
- Proven ability to work cross functionally to deliver results.
- Strong Data Analysis Skills / be able to draw conclusions and make recommendations.
