As we expand our digital presence and engage with a diverse global audience, we are seeking a highly experienced, strategic, and innovative Director of Digital Content to lead our digital strategy across social and streaming platforms.
About The Role
X Games, recently acquired by private equity group MSP Capital, is in an exciting rebuilding phase and searching for a Director of Digital Content (social + streaming) to build and market cutting-edge entertainment content dedicated to serving and growing our incredible community of fans. As the Director of Digital Content, you will shape and execute our digital vision, driving monetization opportunities through creative branded content, channel optimizations, and distribution strategies. You will lead a talented team of digital professionals, fostering growth and engagement on our online platforms aligned with the company's strategic goals. Reporting to the Vice President of Content, we are looking for a natural storyteller and strategic leader with full-funnel content marketing experience, expertise in analytics, and the ability to apply insights to diverse content development. The ideal candidate has a strong track record, a keen eye for quality, and a vision to shape and realize our goals. Join us in growing a beloved brand from the ground up.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive digital strategy aligned with X Games' brand objectives and business goals.
- Lead and inspire a cross-functional team of digital professionals, fostering growth, inclusivity, and engagement to build and nurture the X Games community.
- Develop and track the performance of monthly data, trend, and insight reporting and analyze insights to optimize performance, and improve user experience, reach, and conversion rates.
- Analyze the effectiveness of content and programming, making recommendations for improvement based on insights and trends.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate digital initiatives with other brand activities, such as broadcasts, events, and partnerships.
- Drive engagement and growth across X Games' digital platforms, including website, social media channels, mobile applications, and streaming platforms.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of digital content creation, ensuring representation and respectful portrayals of diverse athletes and fans.
- Stay informed about emerging digital trends, platforms, and technologies, providing strategic recommendations for innovation and improvement.
- Oversee the development and execution of digital marketing campaigns, maximizing reach and impact through audience segmentation and targeting.
- Collaborate with external partners, agencies, and sponsors to create compelling digital experiences and activations.
- Manage agency partnerships, including RFPs, briefs, and results.
- Increase revenue from content, optimizing it for specific platforms.
- Develop clear SOPs for cross-functional alignment and streamlined processes.
- Ensure successful campaign delivery while supporting business-critical KPIs.
- Leverage social media as a tool to inspire conversion, drive sales, and ignite quality community growth.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in digital marketing and content strategy (paid, branded, and organic) in tech, sports media, or entertainment.
- Deep understanding of digital platforms, trends, and best practices, with a strong focus on social media, mobile, and streaming technologies.
- Process-oriented with knowledge of tools like Airtable, Asana, Google Suite, Sprinkler, Conviva, etc.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Proven ability to build and scale strong organic social media performance across platforms and metrics.
- Drive earned media growth strategy through influencer marketing initiatives.
- Experience in building communities and articulating community growth purposes and tactics.
- Branded content expert with proven results in developing and monetizing content.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and metrics for informed decision-making.
- Excellent communication, project management, and presentation skills, effectively articulating digital strategies to stakeholders.
- Proven experience managing teams, using OKRs and KPIs to drive results.
- Passion for action sports and an understanding of the unique culture and community surrounding these sports.
