CNCC, our marketing, creative strategy, and production department is responsible for harnessing Condé Nast’s brand influence and audience passion to create and execute the industry’s most compelling content programs, initiatives and partnerships across all platforms.
Global Commercial Casting is a function that casts influencers, internal talent (editors) and ‘real’ people for commercial projects briefed by our advertisers. These projects can be produced by our teams (shoot production) or Self-Shot (produced directly by the talent). If the former, the Global Commercial Casting team will assist with casting. If Self-shot, the Global Commercial Casting team will manage the project from beginning to end through its experienced team of project managers and creatives.
This role specifically will be responsible for and lead ‘real’ people casting in the US, and assist and run Self-Shot Influencer projects in the US with support from your manager, who will be based in the UK. To start with, this role will be the first point of contact for Global Commercial Casting that will be based out of New York (the rest of the team is based in London) and it’s important the Associate Director has good people skills and can build relationships across US Condé Nast departments in order to help establish Global Commercial Casting’s offering in this market.
The Senior Manager, Commercial Casting is a seasoned talent development individual who:
- Is highly commercial and thrives on driving revenue (and high profit) for the Condé Nast brands and outstanding results for our advertisers
- Can discover, nurture, and grow a roster of multi-disciplinary talent for casting across our branded content and sponsored experiential programs with a focus on ‘real’ people and influencers.
- Can work with talent or production teams to create premium, engaging content for our audiences and advertising partners
- Has a deep understanding of market and platform value/demand (especially social media platforms) to help facilitate the development of successful programs for our brands and advertising partners
- Is client facing and has experience managing senior client and internal stakeholder relationships
Job Description
Overview/Purpose
The purpose of this role is to support in casting and project delivery across all digital platforms to drive audience growth and engagement with a focus on commercial revenue, delivering on Condé Nast’s preeminent portfolio of brands in the forms of:
- Branded videos for all distribution points (e.g. YouTube, O&O, OTT, etc.)
- Branded social executions
- Digital native articles
- Event Participation (e.g. hosting, audience development, panel moderation, etc)
- Print advertorials
Primary Responsibilities
- Help field commercial requests for ‘real’ people talent and influencer, trafficking between our departments across Commercial, CNE and Editorial
- Assist with oversight of resourcing and financials for projects
- Oversight of and involvement in casting for shoot productions:
- Assist in creative and strategic planning of campaigns together with the wider CNCC and CNE team(s)
- Talent fee knowledge
- Budget setting and management of talent budgets
- Talent sourcing
- Talent outreach and contract negotiations
- Talent management throughout the project
- Reporting on content performance
- Oversight of and involvement in execution of self-shot productions:
- Assist in creative and strategic planning of campaigns together with the wider CNCC and CNE team(s)
- Talent sourcing
- Talent outreach and negotiations
- Creative development of concept and talent brief together with Creative & Design
- Talent management throughout the project
- Ownership of any shoot production elements needed (together with an assigned Producer if needed)
- Oversight of post-production (if needed)
- Delivery of assets for media amplification (native, social)
- Close collaboration with Legal for the development/improvement of :
- Advertiser Statements of Work
- Talent Contracts
Desired Skills And Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in creative campaign management with exposure to talent negotiations and casting
- A professional and capable team member with inclusive style that garners respect and trust across stakeholders and team members
- Experience working with premium clients or brands
- Established creative sensibility with an excellent track record of producing and overseeing content execution
- Experience navigating matrixed organizations
- Entrepreneurial, strategic and holistic mindset, eagerness to learn and build, and a reputation as an innovative, adaptable and proactive team member with desire to differentiate Condé Nast from the competition
- Knowledge of internet culture and digital video landscape (e.g. Instagram, TikTok, Snap, et.al), the unique elements of each video platform and what makes particular videos successful on those platforms
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and oral) with an emotionally intelligent communication style
- Good presentation skills
- Experience hosting meetings and working with senior internal stakeholders and clients
- An entrepreneurial mindset with a can-do attitude
- Has a great sense of humour but also understands the influence and gravitas of our storied brands
Base Salary: $73,000 - $110,000
