About Your Role

Dotdash Meredith is seeking a Senior Editor to help us take Martha Stewart Digital to the next level. We are looking for a digitally savvy content creator with a passion for all things home decor, gardening, entertaining, wellness, and DIY, who is eager to drive the ongoing evolution and growth of one of the biggest lifestyle sites. The Senior Editor will assign and edit new content, as well as work with the Martha Stewart growth team to refresh existing content and improve user experience–all to grow traffic, boost audience engagement, and drive revenue growth. Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills are a must.

Our Senior Editor must be a strategic thinker who can guide junior team members and motivate the staff to meet our brand goals. They must be detail oriented and deadline-driven to juggle the priorities and meet the deadlines that are crucial to the success of our business. They should also be highly organized, collaborative, and adept at using analytics and current SEO best practices to create and commission content and larger editorial initiatives that will help ensure we meet our goals. Our ideal candidate also has experience producing photo shoots and using such tools as content management systems, Photoshop, Semrush, and Google Analytics.

About Your Contributions

  • Assign and edit evergreen content from freelance writers to make sure our best practices are met.
  • Manage budget related to your slate of writers, and source potential new writers (including interviewing, reviewing writing samples, and ultimately making go/no go recommendations for contributors).
  • Curate and promote our best content across site landing pages, and work with our email and social teams on cross-channel promotion.
  • Work closely with editorial and SEO teams on ad-hoc projects with the goal of improving content quality.
  • Brainstorm ideas for our ongoing video series and give feedback to video producers, as well as potentially host videos.
  • Occasionally author and write or produce new content in-house.
  • Keep a pulse on the competitive landscape to identify trends and opportunities in the space.
  • Work with the Editorial Director and the General Manager to help shape and define editorial strategy, increase audience, and drive user engagement.
  • Opportunity to manage and train junior editors on the team

About You

  • Minimum 5 years experience developing and curating digital content for web, email, and social environments against business goals.
  • Proactive, flexible team player with a sense of humor and entrepreneurial energy, able to roll with the punches and take ownership in a fluid and fast-moving environment.
  • Enthusiastic about the Martha Stewart brand, passionate about all things home—decorating, renovating, gardening, ‘gramming—and eager to share your knowledge with the world.
  • Consistently up to date with industry trends; able to identify topics of interest to a wide audience.
  • Operating experience with content management systems and web analytics tools and experience using data and revenue goals to inform and develop digital strategies.
  • Detail oriented and deadline focused with solid proofing skills. Strong copywriter, capable of writing engaging, lively headlines and blurbs. Experienced with editing and managing a large content pipeline. Prior experience editing lifestyle content is a major plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism or communications.
