Brand Marketing Specialist - Purina Equine
The Brand Marketing role at Land O’Lakes is responsible for driving magnetic connections between our consumers, customers, and our brands. Brand Marketing is part of the Enterprise Marketing team and supports the business unit teams by acting as a true business partner providing marketing communications expertise and driving collaboration across multiple teams using creativity to solve business challenges.
The Brand Marketing Specialist partners with marketing and technical teams in one of our three Business Units, delivering engagement planning support and leading the execution of advertising and other integrated communication programs to achieve performance and sales objectives, and to help meet compliance of communication objectives, timelines, and adherence to brand standards.
This role will be responsible for providing strategic input on marketing decisions and leading cross functional teams and agency partners through project execution against the Purina Equine business, the largest business within the Purina portfolio.
Additionally, this position provides key inputs as it relates to managing budgets and using the appropriate Land O’Lakes systems and processes for efficient project management.
The ideal candidate has a passion for building brands, collaborates across groups and has a strong ability to adapt and remain detail orientated in an ever-changing world and business environment.
Main Responsibilities
Direct management of marketing programs with appropriate internal and external partners, to deliver against brand and communication plan that is rooted in business strategy.
- Including but not limited to the following: advertising (digital, TV, print, social, point-of-sale, etc.), promotions, influencer management, PR, events, website, 1-1 programs, sales/channel collateral, etc.
- Proactively work with our cross functional teams to understand the return on our marketing communications investments and revise plans as needed.
- Ongoing engagement with Animal Nutrition Digital Marketing Manager, Content Specialist and Social Media Associate to ensure we are integrating campaign content on website and social properties.
- Ownership of and or/ active participation in pertinent re-occurring meetings (status’, financial reviews, agile input sessions, planning, etc.)
- Oversee, in partnership with brand marketing and Equine business marketing manager(s), the strategic development of channel specific engagement plans that will maximize investment and drive business growth.
- Participate in the development of the communications strategy in collaboration with the agency(s) and internal cross functional groups that will drive business growth.
- Adjust plans as necessary throughout the year to react to market dynamics under budget and time constraints.
- Continually look for ideas to enhance or support as new learnings or programs present themselves.
- Support annual planning activities and plan development
Partner With Marketing Operations And Other Cross-functional Partners To
- Assist in maintaining communication budgets, and the review/approval of financial commitments, using Land O’Lakes systems as appropriate. (i.e. Ariba, Allocadia, others)
- Maintain and coordinate campaigns and asset management using Land O’Lakes systems as appropriate (i.e. Sprinklr, Teams, OneNote, Sharepoint, others)
- Author updates to leadership on key initiative progress
Required Experience/Knowledge/Skills (to be able to perform this job): Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications-related field, or equivalent work experience is preferred. 5+ years’ experience within Marketing or Communications, preferably with campaign management experience and experience in translating marketing objectives and strategies into engaging creative ideas. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of applications.
- Existing knowledge of the animal nutrition category (Equine emphasis), and/or a curiosity to immerse themselves in this highly passionate and connected industry.
- Juggles competing priorities and demands with minimal oversight and works productively in the face of ambiguity or uncertainty
- Able to connect dots and align own work with workgroup’s + Business Unit’s goals and strategies.
- Can independently and proactively think through the needs of a project and manage collaboration to meet business objectives and project milestones. Should be comfortable with leading groups of internal team members + external partners through execution of a project from start to finish.
- Not constrained by the idea of “we’ve always done things like this”, is proactive, has an eye toward the future; applies new concepts and principles to address problems.
- Able to support strategic planning in an active way, bringing unique insights and perspectives of optimization to the table
- Comfort working in a relatively flat org structure. A ‘chip in’ mentality shared by all levels
- Must be able to work in a hybrid environment - self prioritizing and time managing
- Travel required; 10-20% travel required including periodic team meetings (if remote)
