Position Summary and Principal Responsibilities:

Join our dynamic Splunk Engineering team and take on a key role in supporting and enhancing our cutting-edge platforms, including Splunk Cloud, Splunk Enterprise, ITSI, and Observability. As a Splunk Engineering Expert, you will be at the forefront of engineering and development projects, collaborating with a talented team to drive success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of end-to-end engineering and development projects, demonstrating autonomy and resourcefulness.
  • Provide technical and operational support for our diverse customer base and internal teams utilizing our powerful tools.
  • Manage risk effectively, overseeing vulnerability reconciliation, security baselines, and audit-related objectives.
  • Fulfill administrative functions, ensuring accurate documentation and handling service requests promptly.
  • Engage in 24x7 on-call L3 support on a rotational basis with other team members, maintaining a high level of service availability.
  • Conduct user training sessions to increase awareness and maximize the value of Splunk.
  • Ensure timely resolution of incident, problem, and change tickets, escalating complex issues when necessary.
  • Adhere to DTCC's ITIL process for incident, change, and problem resolution, ensuring a structured approach.

  • Proficiently use Microsoft Office tools such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.
  • Possess good SQL skills and a strong understanding of relational databases.
  • Exhibit experience in developing and interfacing with REST APIs.
  • Demonstrate solid knowledge of TCP/IP and networking fundamentals.
  • Display expertise in engineering, configuring, deploying, and supporting Splunk Enterprise, Splunk Cloud, ITSI, and Observability.
  • Excel in creating and optimizing Big Data correlations using the Splunk search language (SPL).
  • Fine-tune and optimize logging source streams for efficient data collection.
  • Develop Splunk reports that meet the requirements of key stakeholders.
  • Possess strong knowledge of Amazon AWS products and services, including EC2, BeanStalk, Lambda, VPC, Route 53, Amazon FW, API Gateway, ELB, CloudTrail, and CloudFront.
  • Have working knowledge of Azure.

Experience:

  • Minimum of six (6) years of hands-on Splunk work experience is a must.
  • Preferred expertise in ITSI, demonstrating a deep understanding of its capabilities.
  • Programming experience in Python, Shell, or JavaScript is a plus.
  • Extensive experience (6+ years) in Splunk engineering/support within a production environment, covering all lifecycle management phases: planning, design, deployment, upkeep, and retirement.
  • Demonstrated competency in implementing and managing Splunk in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with integrating Splunk with cloud-related applications, such as AWS, Azure, Zoom, and Thousand Eyes.

Education, Training, and/or Certifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a technical discipline.
  • Certification in Splunk products is a plus, showcasing your dedication to mastering the platform.
