Primary Function
Under the general direction of the Communications & Marketing Director, the Communications & Marketing Coordinator (CMC) supports the marketing, brand management, digital communications, and community engagement efforts for the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos. As a key member of the Development Team, this position takes the lead in developing and evaluating various print, digital, and multimedia projects that align with the organization's mission and impact to promote its programs, campaigns, fundraising initiatives, and special events. The CMC is crucial in developing and executing the organization’s annual marketing and communications plan to drive engagement and philanthropy in collaboration with the Events & Volunteer Coordinator and Communications & Marketing Director.
The CMC reports directly to the Communications & Marketing Director. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) based in the BGCSM Administrative Office at its Jennifer Loscher Branch. Some evenings and weekend days are required for meetings and special events (dates to be communicated in advance).
Responsibilities & Scope of Work
Marketing & Communications
- Develop, write, and publish content for print and digital platforms.
- Manage the content and strategy for the organization’s social media sites, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
- Review and update the organization’s blog and website pages regularly to ensure information is engaging, current, and meeting strategic goals.
- Serve as the lead writer and content creator for print publications, special event materials, and impact reports.
Creative & Brand Management
- Coordinate and serve as the project manager for email marketing campaigns and communications using digital email marketing software and systems.
- Coordinate media opportunities, write press releases, and grow media engagement.
- Collect and evaluate quantitative and qualitative data from website traffic, digital ads, social media, and email campaigns.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for general inquiries received through digital channels (website, email, social media) or direct to the appropriate parties.
- Design collateral for print, signage, and digital platforms as needed.
- Provide photography support for the Club blog, digital communications, and small events.
- Coordinate and serve as the point of contact for photography and video vendors for large-scale events.
- Manage storage and organization of digital assets (photos, videos, audio, logos, digital and print signage, etc.).
- Ensure brand compliance across all mediums, including reviewing program content and facility marketing to ensure all materials comply with brand standards.
- Coordinate orders of branded items to be used for promotional efforts and track inventory.
Special Event Support
- Plan and execute on-site event coverage.
- Support media production of events by coordinating presentation materials and providing support with photographers and production vendors.

Required Skills, Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or other related field (A combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree may be substituted for a degree)
- Demonstrated writing experience and excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, Acrobat) and familiarity with web-based design programs, like Canva.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Working knowledge of a website CMS (i.e., Squarespace or WordPress), social media management system (Loomly, Hootsuite, Sprout Social), and email marketing platform (Active Campaign, Constant Contact).
- Experience with Salesforce a plus.
- Basic knowledge of youth development, the Boys & Girls Club movement, or similar concepts.
- Demonstrated project management and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization (staff, management, Board, volunteers, community groups, and other related agencies)
- Ability to prioritize, exercise good judgment, and collaborate independently.

- Maintain donor confidentiality.
- 1-2 years in a marketing/communications role.
- 1-2 years managing social media platforms.
- Experience working in a non-profit setting (preferred)
Schedule: 8-hour shift – Monday to Friday
Compensation: BGCSM’s salary and benefits standards are competitive and will depend on qualifications and experience. The benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) with a match after one year of employment.
