Position Function

Social Strategists are responsible for implementing and stewarding a brand's social media strategy and are involved in the overall strategic development and day-to-day decision making with some supervision.

The Social Strategist is a very dynamic role, a wearer of many hats including strategy, creative, paid, community management and analytics. The Social Strategist must demonstrate a passion for social media and leverage their deep understanding of the landscape into effective social media programs for their client.

Social Strategists work collaboratively across agency disciplines to ensure that all client deliverables are generated on time and on strategy. Social Strategists serve as a primary contact for the client team and are responsible for cultivating and nurturing those relationships for the purpose of building our client's business.

The Social Strategist also supports the broader Strategy Studio department in pursuing First & Only solutions.

General Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated understanding and experience developing fundamentals of organic social media strategies including audience, channel, content, brand guidelines,social voice, and paid social media understanding.
  • Monitor trends in social media channels, tools and emerging technologies
  • Lead development of community management guidelines and social voice, and support the SMM as they maintain these standards
  • Lead collaborating with analyst to inform monthly dashboard and ad hoc reporting to drive continuous optimization
  • Ability to monitor brand pages for inappropriate content or spam (when necessary) and manage crises
  • Use both native and social listening tools to identify opportunities to proactively engage with relevant influencers and trending topics on social
  • Lead influencer identification based on brand/campaign, brand identity, goals, etc.
  • Direct management of Social Media Manager and/or Intern

Support Sr. Social Strategist in the following:

  • Implementation and stewardship of action plans for achieving and measuring social media success
  • Providing thought-leadership, strategic guidance, proactive key learnings and industry best practices
  • Development of POVs on a range of social topics as needed (for ex. experiential events, competitive analysis and/or listening)
  • Development or co-development of social brief and briefing of creative teams (if applicable)
  • Creating and delivering presentations to both clients and internal teams showcasing strategy and results, with the support of a social analyst
  • Collaboration with media team on paid social initiatives
  • Guiding the Social Analyst in reporting and insights
  • Extract social listening insights for brand and new business
  • Work with broader team to identify opportunities to test and learn

Supervise and Advise Social Media Manager in the following:

  • Development and implementation of a monthly content calendar through review,strategic guidance and copy writing support.
  • Supporting big picture social community management (monitoring, engagement, and crisis), with support from the larger social team, and having an understanding of best practices.
  • Monitoring the social media landscape for trends (tools, technologies, channels, behaviors) that affect and present opportunity for clients and growth
  • Sourcing opportunities to proactively engage with relevant industry influencers, events and trending topics on social media.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Fluent across a variety of social channels as an active and passionate participant
  • Proficiency in Excel and Powerpoint (Keynote a plus)
  • Proficient writing, communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to self-manage own time according to deadlines
  • Ability to change priorities and pivot to emerging urgent tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills are a must
  • Demonstrated ability to manage internal relationships and expectations

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience in social media
  • Deep understanding and participation in emerging platforms, like TikTok and Clubhouse.
  • Working knowledge of Social Media Management software and monitoring/listening tools a plus
  • Technical understanding and ability to pick up new tools quickly
  • Routinely takes initiative to improve process/workflow/methodologies
  • Proficiency in managing client and internal relationships and expectations
