As the Wella Shopper Marketing Associate Director, you will be responsible to lead a high-performing team in the development of winning retail marketing strategies that achieves retail sales growth targets using all path-to-purchase conversion drivers (digitally and in-store). This position is a fast paced, customer-focused marketing delivery role. You will collaborate with internal & external partners to develop breakthrough programming & innovative demand creation marketing strategies that not only drives base business and new product growth but also elevates the brand equity across our portfolio.
In order to achieve your objectives, you will create a strategic annual retail marketing plan, influence internal stakeholders, and solve increasingly complex customer challenges with regards to the evolving shopper landscape. There is high collaboration required for this integrated role so you will work closely with other functions (e.g., Brand, Sales, Digital, Paid Media, Insights, PR, and Education) along with our retail partners to drive shopper traffic, conversion and growth across Wella brands and categories.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leverage brand vision, industry knowledge, and consumer/shopper insights to lead the development and execution of omni-channel retail demand creation strategies with a focus on driving shopper conversion, building brand awareness and aligning with retailer priorities to grow Wella sales.
- Build strong relationships with key account teams, insights, brand teams, PR/influencer and education teams to build mutually beneficial programs together.
- Partner with Insights to develop shopper-centric selling stories
- Lead team to proactively develop annual account promotional calendar and work with Brand Marketing and Field Sales to ensure Shopper Marketing promotional activity aligns with national marketing campaigns
- Lead team in developing all retailer-facing visual communication: on-shelf and out-of-aisle merchandising, enhanced .com content, marketing campaign assets
- Define metrics and KPIs to measure the success and impact of team efforts across all channels and provide postgame analysis to optimize programming in the future
- Support & coach direct reports in day-to-day activities ensuring continuous development
- Effectively manage A&CP budget & demonstrate strong agency leadership
- Additional tasks, duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college. MBA Preferred
- 8+ years of customer/shopper marketing experience in Consumer-Packaged Goods
- Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Must possess customer/consumer-centric mindset
- Prior budget management experience
- Exceptional project & time management skills
- Proven strategic thinker with strong negotiation & influencing skills
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders and within a matrixed organization
- Proven ability to embrace and effectively navigate change
- Ability to coach & develop world class talent. Ensure continuous training, development and career progression for high potential personnel and be a champion of your team’s professional goals
- Solid strategic and execution skills with a track record of delivering strong growth results
- Self-starter with ability to work independently – high sense of urgency and entrepreneurial spirit
- Ability to anticipate issues and resolve them based on sound business judgement

We disclose the compensation range for positions in compliance with local law. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Wella Company's total rewards package for employees. Pay Range: $145,000-175,000 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonus plan or variable pay, depending on the role. In addition, Wella Company provides a rich variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
