Position Description

The Marketing Director--Campaigns & Branding Strategy at RS Hughes will serve as the marketing lead responsible for the strategy and execution of campaigns that promote our key verticals and events. This role is charged with improving the productivity, agility, and sophistication of our core campaign strategy and operations while also ensuring a unified-on brand message is delivered across all marketing channels. They will also be directly responsible for implementing best-practice approaches to how we strategize, plan, execute, optimize, and measure marketing campaigns at RS Hughes.

A successful candidate is both passionate about coaching a team through proper campaign set-up (ideation, offer creation, creative review, approvals, testing, delivery, and measurement), and comfortable developing campaign briefs and presenting strategies to senior leaders. The marketing leadership team and other internal stakeholders will lean on you to centralize, coordinate, and communicate marketing execution plans, timelines, issues, and anticipate challenges that come with bringing a new campaign to market.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Campaign Strategy: Define and implement strategies to maximize the acquisition and engagement of RS Hughes. Balance creativity with GTM best practices to drive scale and impact of marketing campaigns.
  • Campaign Planning: Liaise with marketing leaders to understand business goals and develop campaign strategy and execution plans, including SLAs, risks, dependencies, and resourcing required. Play an active role aligning cross-functional partners to those plans and educating them on our goals.
  • Campaign Delivery: Work with growth and lifecycle team to align on the campaign activation plan and calendar across all verticals. Project manage the implementation of campaigns on time while keeping a high bar for quality.
  • Campaign Performance: Partner with internal analytics teams to build reporting dashboards to track campaign performance, derive insights, and communicate recommendations via presentations to stakeholders.
  • Campaign Operations: Partner with internal teams to develop integrated campaign briefs, playbooks, and templates to inform and enable dynamic marketing campaigns. Establish a structured post-mortem/feedback loop process with stakeholders to ensure campaigns land successfully both internally and externally.
  • Lead the business in an insight-led and consumer-centric approach to creating new member acquisition and retention initiatives
  • Listen to our consumers and develop a strategy to respond and manage/encourage the community along with building the reputation of the brands.
  • Drive social and influencer marketing that best suits each of our brand's targets.

Key Experience And Competencies Required To Be Successful

  • Significant B2B marketing experience required.
  • Well-versed in strategic planning and tactical execution for growing brand awareness and driving brand equity. Skills in positioning, messaging, deployment for all branding efforts. Champion in driving brand distinction in a highly commoditized market segment.
  • Advanced integrated communications strategy development experience. Genuine curiosity and interest in moving audiences from awareness to engagement to action across a mix of communications platforms. Understanding of the role of owned, earned, and paid media in an integrated communications or marketing plan and how influential voices best fit into it.
  • Content planning and storytelling experience. Mindset of a storyteller and ability to develop a narrative via influencer voices across integrated channels.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate influencer-created content across a brand’s social + digital ecosystem and collaborate closely with third parties to bring that content to life.
  • Understanding of various filters and benchmarks that make someone influential for a given brand, service, category, or sector.
  • Expertise in managing paid social programs. Understanding of paid social landscape including experience developing strategy and optimizing paid social programs related to amplifying and/or allow-listing influencer-created content. Candidates who know how to effectively build and target custom audiences and how to execute and analyze ad buys are preferred.
  • Ability to engage with and counsel senior level decision-makers across the client’s business and deliver connective insights to assist clients in driving alignment and execution of cross-company initiatives. Candidate should have experience building relationships and working with diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Demonstrated success in managing, optimizing, and reconciling multi-million-dollar sponsorship marketing and media budgets.
  • Proven leadership in crafting a strategic media vision and influencing decision-making in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Proven track record of effectively and independently managing multiple stakeholders and collaborating across functions to bring teams together in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Experience leading marketing teams; a leader with proven managerial abilities; excellent team leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to coach, mentor, and train others.
  • Experience building and scaling a consumer brand nationally (or globally).
  • Experience establishing clear and effective metrics and a measurement framework to approach marketing channels and investment strategy, including COA/COR and marketing ROI.

Education/Certification/Licenses

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field; Masters in Marketing/MBA preferred.
  • 8+ years marketing experience with at least 5+ years owning and managing integrated campaigns.
  • 4+ years of experience as a team lead or people manager, helping prioritize, motivate, and deliver results.

Skills That Will Make You Successful

  • Deep understanding of campaign methodologies and successful track record of measuring and delivering on performance targets.
  • Proven success working cross-functionally with internal business partners, including Design, Content, and Data Analytics teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting/speaking in front of senior leaders.
  • Subject matter expertise across a variety of marketing channels (organic media, email, paid media, events, etc.) is a plus.
  • Team player that is self-motivated, entrepreneurial, effective under pressure and flexible (able to adapt to changing priorities).
  • Outstanding judgement: ability to know when to escalate issues in a timely and appropriate manner; strong desire to creatively problem solve; operates with a sense of personal accountability; demonstrates a strong work ethic and high level of professionalism, and integrity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting/speaking in front of senior leaders.
