Overview:

General Motors Defense LLC (GMD) is seeking a Marketing Manager to support brand management, advertising, social media communications, and public affairs initiatives within the Government Relations and Communications function. This is a critical role for GMD and requires a candidate who is proactive, action-oriented, creative, a skilled writer, and willing to quickly immerse him/herself in the business to produce results.

The Marketing Manager is primarily responsible for the development and execution of the GMD brand, social media strategy, website management, and collateral in support of business priorities. This individual must have the presence to influence and drive action across a diverse set of internal and external constituents, and the agility to multi-task in an ever-evolving environment through their key areas of responsibilities.

The candidate must be willing to grow their understanding of the national security government market, international defense market, and intersection with GM commercial operations. The Marketing Manager must collaborate with a wide range of business, marketing, and communications leaders to drive both an active strategic and tactical approach to marketing and brand management across the organization – ensuring GMD strategic messages are executed in a manner that gains the most visibility and results for the organization.

Additional Job Description

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Design, marketing, brand management, and advertising support: lead all aspects marketing and advertising from storyboards to project completion; work with GMD Government Relations & Communications team to outline strategy and project ownership; collaborate with vendors on photography/videography sessions, design, and content development
  • Social media: develop and execute a robust social media campaign, ensuring channel are active and updated with relevant information that align with business priorities
  • Company branded collateral: lead for all branded consumer-purchased materials and give-a-ways, ensuring brand alignment on all items and developing a robust inventory
  • Website management: manage all aspects of the GMD website
  • Tradeshow and events: lead for show and onsite event content and collateral; support GMD events, including site activities, customer/government visits, all-hands, and other events relevant to the business
  • Crafting communications content: support GMD Communications leadership to hone campaign messaging as appropriate to support public affairs activities; serve as additional staff writer and content creator (e.g., backgrounders, presentations) to support these efforts
  • Document and content library management: create clearinghouse for all GMD content to be stored and filed, accessed, and referenced
  • Budget and program management: support third-party vendor relationships (PR agencies, consultants, filing purchase orders, etc.)
  • GMD Liaison: serve as a GMD liaison to GM Corporate Marketing and Design (including Design, Historians, Brand managers, etc), in partnerships with GMD Communications leadership, as well as other businesses; partner with other PR leads to drive “one company” opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related disciplines
  • Five-eight years of defense-specific public affairs/relations experience or combined public relations/journalism experience in a defense, automotive, or corporate environment and/or equivalent agency environment
  • Must possess and exhibit exemplary writing skills, organizational skills, a solid grasp of brand strategies, and an understanding of marketing tactics
  • Must identify experience influencing defense, national security, automotive, technology, and/or government focused contributors in a fast-paced work environment
  • Must show experience supporting marketing in a global environment
  • Must show experience with maximizing reach through social media platforms
  • Must be a team player who is solution oriented, showing results and the ability to execute strategic communications plans
  • Must be able to simultaneously manage multiple projects from conception to completion
  • Must meet deadlines under pressure in a changing, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Must possess excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Must show a strong work ethic and ability to multi-task with impeccable attention to detail
  • Must have experience managing external and internal vendor relationships and working within defined budget parameters, including the negotiating of contracts to achieve budget goals
  • This is a remote work position with travel required (:20-30%)

expected base compensation for this role is: $81,000 - $129,400 . Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
