Brand Strategy Director (social focus)
We’re searching for a Brand Strategy Director to join our Brand Strategy and Experience Design team. In this pivotal role, you'll work on a focused set of our agency’s best brands while reserving time to accelerate the operationalization of our social practice — in our team and across the agency writ large. The ideal candidate will have passion for social activations (creative campaigns, influencer/creator, content, commerce, live social, emerging platforms, etc) but will also see social as a place to mine for insights, trends and behaviors that can inform strategies and creative work that is not restricted to social channels. This person will craft social strategies and deliver inspiring briefings to our talented creative and content production teams. As a frustrated creative, you’ll endeavor go beyond strategy to engage in concepting with cross-functional teams.
As the driving force behind our social center of excellence, you'll lead the charge in everything from uncovering insights to assembling cross-functional teams, uniting PR, media, and creative experts. You'll be instrumental in developing foundational social strategies that distinguish our clients from the competition and bringing these strategies to life with social-first creative ideas.
We're seeking a candidate who's not only savvy in the ever-evolving social landscape but also has the skills to keep our clients ahead of the curve. Your understanding of cultural insights and the power of social in creating brand relevance will be invaluable as you guide clients toward fresh, social-first thinking. As a proactive thinker, doer, creator, and explorer, you'll thrive in helping our cross-functional teams navigate the complexities to achieve impressive people and business results.
Responsibilities:
- Be a dedicated brand strategist who just so happens to specialize in social for a narrow set of client brands
- Operationalize the social strategy practice by establishing processes, tools, and templates that will set teams up for success
- Conduct research, craft social strategies, set performance measurement plans and influence creative for our top clients
- Persuade and influence both internal and external stakeholders through strategic thought leadership and insightful points of view (POVs).
- Merchandise our social offerings and products, giving our agency a competitive edge in the landscape
- Seek out, develop, and leverage top-tier social talent to bring the most exceptional writers, content creators, and strategists to the agency and our clients
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify problems and inform brand strategies and go-to-market strategies across social, digital, content and brand experience
- Lead workshops and guide strategic development with multiple stakeholders
- Stay on top of trends in pursuit of a deep understanding of culture, consumer behavior, emerging technologies, social media, creator culture, and influencers
- Support agency growth goals in digital innovation, sustainability, and diversity, equity, and inclusion by representing these viewpoints in strategy development
- Contribute to team morale and mentor strategists and interns
Required Skills:
- Recognizes that social is the genesis of brand relevance and cultural connection, not merely an extension of an ad campaign
- Has an innate understanding of how the social landscape is evolving and can nimbly adapt, evolve, and stay one step ahead of emerging trends
- Generates ideas that inspire out-of-the-box thinking generate concepts that capture the hearts and minds of their audience.
- Curious about what makes a brand meaningful, what is driving and influencing culture, and why people do what they do
- Expertly directs, coordinates, and builds foundational social strategies that help clients make decision on why, where, and how they show up on social
- Confidently partners with and influences clients and internal teams
- Experience in both B2C and B2B
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience
- 8+ years of strategic planning or strategically driven role required
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Ability to travel as needed
