As a key member of the Non-Traditional Innovation team, the Innovation Manager will be responsible for identifying and implementing key growth opportunities by leveraging data, guest insights, and competitive findings to develop and define a clear growth plan and roadmap that generates incremental sales growth and unlocks new revenue streams. This role will also require a high level of collaboration with business units, sales teams, and cross-functional partners to develop strategy and execute launches and will support the end-to-end process from ideating, creating the vision & pipeline, building out capabilities and business models, all the way through in-market tests and ultimately launch.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborative member of a dedicated Innovation team (4 person cross-functional team focused on launching new innovations within Subway).
- Be a key contributor to Non-Traditional’s annual, and multi-year growth strategy and plan.
- Support key initiatives- including but not limited to strategic vision- innovation pipeline creation- internal alignment- development and execution of innovation programs.
- Champion for Design Thinking and the Innovation process. Ideate – Validate – Iterate.
- Develop testing plan, execute test plan and evaluation – with ultimate goal to scale innovation broadly.
- Lead the implementation and execution of innovation initiatives from the initial idea through final measurement and performance.
- Ensure daily progress across multiple simultaneous initiatives, in partnership with cross-functional teams.
- Own innovation programs and validity. Desirability, Viability, and Feasibility.
- Manage internal and external partners offering various inputs for initiatives.
- Track project timelines and work plan toward key deliverables within scope and budget.
- Maintain current knowledge of key competitor offerings and innovations, as well as industry trends that allow Subway to “see around the corner” and be at the forefront of QSR innovation.
- Operate with global mindset and work in partnership with other key regions to define innovation opportunities and work through pilots, business cases and roll out.
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years related exprience. Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Influencer with strong interpersonal and written communication skills, building business cases and articulating them for leadership and other internal/external stakeholders.
- Understanding and knowledge of the innovation process - a love of data and insights, always asking “how can we do this better/differently?”.
- Experience with Growth Channels / Non-Traditional Retail a plus.
- Self-motivated team player that brings excitement and enthusiasm to work each day and has strong cross functional experience, emotional intelligence and empathy.
- Strong personal motivation in fast-paced environment, with a bias for action.
- Strong “big picture” perspective, while also delivering the innovation initiative at hand.
- Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills to internal/external partners with an ability to influence.
- A growth mindset: track record of leveraging learnings, demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit, always imagining what’s possible.

- QSR/Restaurant/Retail experience a plus, but not required.
