Lead Marketing Communications Manager
The Lead Manager, Marketing Communication is a skilled marketer, motivated strategic thinker, and talented influencer. In this role, a successful candidate will take a customer-centric approach and be able to translate priority marketing needs, business strategies as well as product solutions, into easily digestible messaging strategies. This is a highly collaborative role that helps guide the development of product messaging for acquisition and current customer marketing for DIRECTV and DIRECTV STREAM.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Collaborate with business strategy owners, Go-to-Market, Product, and Legal to develop messaging strategies and positioning to support product launches, promotions, and competitive campaigns.
- Work with multiple internal teams, copywriters, and potentially outside agencies to lead the development of messaging and communications for the video portfolio that are accessible, relevant, and drive business results.
- Author and oversee messaging roadmaps to coincide with entertainment tentpoles and business opportunities.
- Architect and maintain a comprehensive library of messaging strategy documents and frameworks that are used by all channels to develop marketing materials.
- Act as the strategic messaging liaison who oversees the end-to-end internal briefing process for new messaging and positioning requests; find creative ways to continuously refine the process and drive greater efficiency.
- Responsible for many day-to-day decisions relating to marketing copy consistency and quality control pertaining to messaging hierarchy.
- Identify insights from primary research, syndicated research, competitive tracking, and tactic performance to optimize and refine messaging strategies.
- Engage creative resources/partners to develop new copy and creative; provide thoughtful, concise feedback that propels the work forward.
- Partner closely with the Brand Management team to foster consistent use of DIRECTV’s brand voice principles and ensure on-brand expression and execution in messaging deliverables.
Here's what you'll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Psychology, or related field preferred.
- 5 - 7 years of marketing communications experience; past agency and/or account management experience preferred.
- Knowledge of integrated marketing strategy, brief development, product positioning, and messaging/copy development with functional experience in marketing communications development.
- Strong literal and lateral thinking skills and the ability to devise unique, original solutions to complex marketing problems.
- Talent to work successfully on multiple projects simultaneously; must show strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
- Ability to project manage across multiple disciplines/TV products and operate in a matrixed environment.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Possess a strong understanding of marketing and communications frameworks; ability to apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts to work products.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships and influence key stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker and self-starter who proactively develops recommendations and strategies associated with the role.
- Flexible and adaptable attitude– adjusts easily to changing priorities and evolving campaigns.
This position requires approximately, but not limited to, 10% travel.
This is a remote position that can be located anywhere in the United States.

DIRECTV's compensation structure is designed to be market-competitive and fully supports efforts to attract and retain employees. It is the company's policy to offer pay that is competitive with other employers in the local market. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
The Base Salary range displayed below reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for each of DIRECTV's 4 (four) US Labor Market Zones. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
DIRECTV WAGE ZONES: $87,400 - $158,700
Low (N1): $87,400 - $131,100
Mid (N2): $92,000 - $138,000
High (N3): $101,200 - $151,800
Top (N4): $105,800 - $158,700
