About the Role
Social media marketing is critical to Citizen’s success. Citizen distributes thousands of user generated videos daily that help keep communities informed and empowered. With the majority broadcasted on the scene of safety incidents, Citizen has an influx of live content unlike any other platform. Known in every major city, Citizen works to keep people safe. As Citizen’s Social Media Manager, you will work alongside the marketing team to develop and execute social media strategies that leverage our unique safety platform, real-time video assets and life-changing stories.
Citizen’s social media work is already generating millions of monthly views and we’re ready to grow even more- especially in the areas of Instagram, Tiktok and Twitter and partnering with local city content creators.
The Social Media Manager will be responsible for managing owned social media accounts, ensuring we are maximizing all content, creating original content, engaging across platforms, tracking and reporting on analytics, and driving strategy. Reporting to the Product Marketing Manager, you will have an immediate impact in a highly visible and rewarding role. You are ready to jump in and manage the vision, creation and distribution of social media assets, develop creative social campaigns, and spearhead social growth. Responsibilities
- You will oversee the social media calendars including campaigns, assets, and communications.
- You will concept and plan owned social media campaigns, including on IG, Twitter and TikTok, to drive UGC, followers, and engagement, including, leveraging our hero stories, working with partners, product/feature promotion, and more.
- You will exponentially drive growth on channels, leading strategy and content, and support efforts in creating any new accounts across social platforms.
- You’ll track and measure performance to guide strategic decisions.
- You can quickly edit and develop social media videos and original content.
- You will ensure partnerships and campaigns are successfully executed within budget. Our partnerships are incredibly important and you will be the point person for maintaining the day-to-day success of these relationships.
- You will build a Movement: Connect with our users to build a movement where people help each other stay safe using Citizen. This may include online and offline campaigns (ambassador and referral programs, influencer marketing, community outreach, content marketing, social media, etc) to impact existing markets and build demand in new markets pre-launch.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of experience in Social Media Marketing, with an emphasis on creating content from scratch, rapid distribution, channel, audience and community management.
- You are expertly organized and comfortable with prepared content calendars while also being able to meet the real-time demands of social media. You are a capable improviser: When news breaks and trends emerge, you will help the team capitalize.
- You are comfortable publishing and actively engaging audiences across TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Threads, Reddit, and any other social media platform that may emerge.
- You can stay on top of a large volume of content while ensuring its distribution and reach is maximized across platforms.
- You’re a talented social media professional. You have your finger on the pulse of what needs to be posted, where, and why. These instincts are sharpened through demonstrated hands-on experience.
- You’re an effective social media storyteller. You can summarize breaking news in just a few words for an Instagram carousel or Tweet, turn the best part of a 10-minute user generated video into a compelling 25-second TikTok, and write snappy copy that catches the attention of online audiences.
- You’re on top of pop culture and trends, understanding what appeals to people (and algorithms) while always thinking of ways Citizen can leverage.
- You are a strong written communicator. Your social copy is straightforward, accessible, and matches the vibe of your audience.
- You’re a content creation wiz, including Reels and TikTok videos
- You’re a self-starter and strong finisher: you take pride in developing a plan, executing it, and reporting on results.
- You’re a mission-driven marketer and creative problem-solver. You are attracted to taking on big, complex problems (read: opportunities!)
Salary Range & Benefits:
The below represents the expected salary range for this position in one of our three hubs: New York, NY, San Francisco, CA or Los Angeles, CA. We take a number of factors into account when determining compensation including your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
Salary Range: $100,000-$115,000 annually + equity + benefits
