Director of Marketing

We seek an analytical and creative marketing leader with a proven track record of scaling indie beauty/wellness brands and leading strategic brand partnerships to pioneer marketing efforts for an innovative beauty startup focused on meeting the underserved needs of global Asian consumers. Working in a fast-growing, dynamic startup is challenging, fulfilling, and lots of fun. We seek a marketing leader who desires to make an impact and catapult a growing brand to greater heights. You love spending your days thinking of new ways to expand our reach and client base, and you are driven by constant re-iteration to achieve business growth, revenue, and overall company success.

Your Role:

  • Oversee marketing across all digital commerce growth channels and touchpoints
  • Concept and execute 360 marketing campaigns
  • Create & implement conversion-improving and sales-driving strategies to reach/exceed revenue goals
  • Manage the marketing budget, including performance reporting & forecasting
  • Manage teams focused on content creation, branding, paid media, influencer marketing, PR, affiliate marketing, and email marketing
  • Expand reach and drive revenue through community building, brand partnerships, and identifying opportunities in international markets
  • Develop analytic frameworks, structures, and processes to assess various initiatives
  • Acquisition & Retention: Lead the team and media agency to design & execute acquisition marketing & paid media strategies, custom audience segmentation, and retention tactics to fuel growth and efficiency
  • Work closely with senior sales and operational leadership as a marketing evangelist
  • Develop and execute marketing plans to support each retail door and international market
  • Report on performance for all inbound demand generation initiatives (webinars, events, nurture programs, email, and digital ad campaigns) and identify new opportunities to improve existing campaigns
  • Support the nurture of existing users with the goal of increasing conversion rates
  • Leverage marketing automation to drive qualified leads and increased engagement

What you bring to the table:

  • 7+ years of beauty/wellness direct-to-consumer + eCommerce digital marketing experience
  • Proven track record of scaling indie brands and creating impactful brand partnerships
  • Deep understanding of Asian consumers and the luxury beauty market
  • Experience with Google Ads/Analytics, Meta Ads, Klaviyo, and Shopify
  • An expert in leveraging social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram to foster an engaged community and build brand awareness
  • Experience with managing external teams and freelancers
  • Experience with international markets - a huge plus
  • Able to problem-solve creatively on the spot and turn “no” into “why not”
  • An effective leader with the ability to manage and motivate team members with diverse working styles
  • High accountability and takes pride in delivering results
  • Positive attitude and strong communicator
  • Team player with no ego, willing to roll up your sleeves where no task is too large or small
  • Willing to pick up new skills and learn new technologies on the fly, instead of shying away or rejecting unfamiliar tasks
  • Tenacity and dedication to thrive in the start-up environment
