Mighty Earth is hiring a Digital Content Strategist to help shape and implement our digital strategy including our website, social media, and email program. Our next Digital Content Strategist will play a key role in Mighty Earth’s work. In this role, you will own our digital channels, produce content, and help build the digital presence which is critical for running high-level campaigns to convince the world’s largest industries and governments to protect Nature, reduce climate pollution, transform the way food is produced, and support Indigenous community rights.

Who We Are

Founded in 2016, Mighty Earth is a growing global advocacy organization working to defend a living planet. Our goal is to protect Nature and secure a climate that allows life to flourish. Mighty Earth achieves transformative change by creating a “perfect storm” of campaigns, communications, and practical engagement with decision-makers to rapidly transform entire industries and government policy.

We have played a leading role in driving the transformation of whole industries and government policy to stop destruction of tropical rainforests, transform agriculture, protect Indigenous rights, and drive billions of dollars of investment in decarbonization.

Your responsibilities:

As the Digital Content Strategist you will work closely with our campaign teams, communications team, and senior leadership to produce, manage, and curate our digital presence, manage our content calendar, and help grow our organization. You will be empowered to set overarching content strategies and work alongside our talented campaigners to share our campaigns and engage supporters online.

Your specific responsibilities day to day will include:

  • Serving as Mighty Earth’s content strategist and creator across our digital channels, including social media, our website, SMS, and email program.
  • Working closely with campaign teams to create, manage, and publish content to Mighty Earth’s website, with an emphasis on storytelling;
  • Implementing our day to day digital content strategy;
  • Creating and managing Mighty Earth’s social media calendar with strategic campaign actions, balancing regularly scheduled content with the evolving needs of our campaign and communications teams;
  • Overseeing and driving our email calendar, and producing regular content that drives action and engages our supporters;
  • Leading analytics and reporting for our digital programs to help assess effectiveness and impact;
  • Working to maintain brand guidelines and consistency across our digital channels;
  • Staying up to date with current events in the news and identifying relevant opportunities to highlight Mighty Earth’s work;
  • Creating a bank of assets that are ready to go and versatile enough to be used in multiple situations.

What we’re looking for in you:

  • You have at least 5 years of experience, ideally in a nonprofit and campaign or advocacy setting, including experience in digital work.
  • You understand digital strategy and are familiar with best practices for digital communications – and are willing to learn more as you go.
  • You are creative and can develop ideas and see them through to implementation.
  • You are skilled at creating clear and compelling content to drive engagement.
  • You are results-driven and have a passion for working for a better and more just world. You are excited to fight climate change and stop deforestation.
  • You can balance competing priorities, including being willing to ask why and when we may need to pass on an idea because it doesn’t fit into the plan or priorities.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced working environment.
  • You have an ability to work with team members across the organization, move projects and ideas, and work with people from other organizations and cultures.
  • You have experience with and a commitment to working with people from a variety of backgrounds, including different ethnic, racial, and socio-economic backgrounds and the LGBTQ+ community.
  • You have knowledge and experience working with:
  • HTML
  • WordPress (preferred, or similar website content management system)
  • Engaging Networks (or similar email list management program)
  • SMS platforms and how to optimize them for supporter outreach
  • Graphic design (e.g., Canva) for social media
  • Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Google analytics

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in a campaigning, advocacy, or grassroots organizing setting is a big plus.
  • Experience working on, or knowledge of, environmental issues and climate change.
