We’re looking for a Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to lead marketing at Universal Yums. This role will report directly to the CEO and is one of the 4 C-Level roles (alongside the CEO, COO, and Chief Product Officer) encompassing the company’s senior leadership team. The CMO will lead the marketing organization, which is responsible for the profitable growth of the company through acquiring new customers, increasing the value of those customers, and supporting the growth of the brand as it expands into new products and sales channels.

A taste of the CMO role:
- Own the rhythm of marketing, outlined as follows:
Forecast future marketing performance for the purpose of inventory purchasing and financial forecasting using historical order data, awareness of seasonal trends, recent performance data, and upcoming initiatives.
Lead your marketing managers through quarterly strategy planning, using learnings over the last quarter and any relevant changes to the channel to inform the strategy for the next quarter with an emphasis on creating a queue of experiments.
Create and communicate a monthly media plan, determining the overall budget needed to sell through inventory goals and how to allocate that budget across channels. Oversee the creation of an email and SMS calendar.
Monitor and maintain daily and weekly reporting to inform changes to budget, creative, account setup, and any other areas that require fast-paced adjustments.
- We break the regular rhythm of marketing for the winter holiday season, which is a big opportunity for customer acquisition. Lead the team through the preparation and execution of holiday season.
- Consistently evaluate the appropriate structure of the organization to achieve the company's marketing objectives. Own all decision-making over the structure of the internal organization (role creations, eliminations, and changes), as well as decision-making over hiring, firing, promotions, and transfers. Additionally own all decision-making over the hiring and firing of external agencies, contractors, etc.
- Engage with the leadership team to understand the company's upcoming plans for expansion into new products and sales channels. Own the strategy for how those expansion plans will come to life in marketing across people, systems, and strategy.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- 12+ years of experience in marketing, with a focus on digital over the last decade
- 8+ years of experience as a people manager
- 4+ years of experience leading a marketing organization
- Recent experience (in the last 2 years) working for a D2C brand with $20 - 200M in revenue
- Mastery of programmatic ad platforms: Facebook, Google, and Tik Tok
- Strong understanding of influencer marketing
- Ability to build complex reports in Excel or Google sheets to automatically analyze data (NOT macros, just formulas)
- Strong understanding of value propositions, barriers to entry, and other tenants of consumer psychology
- Ability to assess creative for likelihood to perform, find trends across what's working / not working, and manage creative partners.

This is a remote position available to candidates in the United States. Please note that we regretfully cannot consider applicants residing in the state of California at this time. This role requires up to 4 weeks of travel per year for team-building events with the leadership and marketing teams, as well as an annual company meeting attended by all employees.
