Meta seeks a talented and highly-motivated Lead Counsel to join the Business and Strategy Partnerships legal team supporting Meta’s businesses, including virtual reality and augmented reality. Success in this position will require you to work directly with the business to structure, draft and negotiate a wide variety of agreements, including software and content licenses, IP, professional services, and other strategic developer- and partner-facing agreements. In addition, you will be required to provide creative and practical guidance to clients on various legal, product, and business strategies. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge issues, in a nascent space, within a fast-paced environment.

Lead Counsel, Business & Strategy Partnerships Responsibilities:

  • Draft, negotiate and provide advice for a wide variety of commercial agreements including: software and content licenses, IP, professional services, and other strategic developer- and partner-facing agreements, with minimal supervision
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners and subject matter experts both within Meta’s legal department (such as privacy, compliance, M&A, and competition) and across the business (such as policy, communications, privacy, and marketing) to solve issues and analyze, communicate and mitigate legal risks
  • Guide escalations to appropriate stakeholders in order to take strategic and informed risks to meet client needs
  • Build positive and influential relationships with executives, product teams, and peers across organizations

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience with media, internet, or technology companies - representing virtual reality or augmented reality platforms, content development, developer/creator ecosystems, or consumer-facing software platforms
  • J.D. degree and membership in at least one U.S. state bar
  • 5+ years combined law firm and in-house experience with technology companies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A demonstrated interest in learning social technology products
  • In-house experience working directly with business and technical teams to build product knowledge and use of that knowledge to provide frontline legal and strategic business advice regarding products and experiences across multiple jurisdictions
  • Industry experience and legal expertise representing mobile or game console software platforms, interactive game development, developer ecosystems and consumer-facing software platforms
  • Experience counseling on privacy/data protection issues
