Director, Head of Brand Engagement (Social)
Embark on a journey as the driving force behind Verizon's social media landscape. We're on the lookout for someone who is constantly looking for ways to delight, encourage and inspire audiences - an innovative, collaborative, and strategic leader with a visionary touch and exceptional leadership skills who can turn ideas into reality by executing and delivering the vision.
Your canvas? The vast expanse of social channels, where you'll craft and curate Verizon's brand narrative by identifying and crafting a social strategy for various audience segments. You'll not only shape the creative strategy but also ensure its flawless execution.
As a vital member of our leadership team, you'll lead a specialized team of internal and external creatives, strategists and project managers. Collaboration will be critical as you work in partnership with other leaders across PR, Media and others to develop AND LEAD a best-in-class social practice.

Responsibilities:
- Develop the creative strategy for Verizon's social media presence based on the overarching brand strategy and consumer insights, ensuring it aligns with the company's values, mission, and goals.
- Drive continuous innovation to create an engaging brand experience that resonates with the target audience.
- Lead the development of comprehensive marketing communications direction for various social media campaigns, incorporating data-driven insights and creative storytelling to captivate and inspire our followers.
- Provide hands-on feedback and supportive leadership for internal and external teams, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Encourage innovative thinking and exploration of emerging social media trends and technologies.
- Manage resources efficiently and effectively, communicating project status, timelines, deliverables, goals, and expectations to internal teams on a regular basis. Oversee social operations and management to ensure timely content scheduling, community management, and real-time engagement with the audience.
- Direct the newly established Editorial team to deliver high-frequency, engaging, and share-worthy content that highlights Verizon's activities, both independently and complementary to marketing campaigns. Collaborate with influencers and creators to amplify brand messaging and reach new audiences.
- Shape and drive the narrative and communications content across all social platforms, fostering meaningful connections with Verizon's audience and strengthening brand loyalty. Implement social governance strategies to maintain brand reputation and ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.
- Ensure seamless cohesion and integration across all social media channels, maintaining a unified brand voice and consistent messaging. Encourage employee advocacy by empowering employees to be brand ambassadors and share their unique perspectives on social media.
- Cultivate and maintain strong agency relationships, working closely with both in-house and external agencies to develop world-class social marketing creative that drives results. Collaborate with influencers and creators to co-create engaging content and develop authentic brand partnerships.
- Partner with internal production teams to streamline and optimize production processes across social media channels, improving efficiency and output quality. Leverage data and analytics to measure the impact of social campaigns, gathering actionable insights for continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in creative communications, either in-house, at a creative agency, media platform, or brand marketing function.
- 10+ years of experience leading teams with multiple direct reports, either internally or at external agencies.
- 8+ years of experience managing social and digital marketing programs.
- Demonstrated success in creating notable work in social channels with content that generated substantial earned media value and drove large-scale social engagement.
- Proven ability to foster collaboration across multiple teams or divisions within a large organization to curate and distribute engaging content.Must have experience running multiple teams consisting of various disciplines.
- Thought leadership experience in the social media space. Proven ability to layer data, analysis, and research to develop actionable insights to shape and optimize campaigns and drive meaningful outcomes.
- Ability to provide senior level leadership, presence, and influence in a highly matrixed organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Marketing, Advertising, English, Journalism, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of the intersection of a brand with culture, human psychology/behavior, design, media, data, and technology.
- Innovative thinker capable of inspiring purposeful brand stories across various communication channels and emerging platforms.
- Demonstrated creative conceptualization skills.
- Hands-on experience as a Creative Director of Copy or above, demonstrating a keen eye for compelling storytelling.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, creatively demanding environment, managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Excellent collaboration skills to influence key stakeholders and manage relationships across the organization.
- Experience in coaching, building, and growing a collaborative team within a matrixed and cross-functional organization.
- Experience utilizing both internal and external resources, leveraging the strengths of each to achieve objectives efficiently.
- Fluent in cultural trends and news, particularly in areas like personal/consumer technology, culture, sports, gaming, music, film, and video.
- Strong knowledge of social media's role within the broader marketing ecosystem and understanding the distinction between good social content and other media.
- Extensive experience in driving award-winning social concepts and campaigns, with a track record of delivering impactful and innovative results.
- Familiarity with influencer marketing strategies and experience collaborating with influencers and creators to amplify brand messaging and reach new audiences.
- Proficiency in social governance strategies to maintain brand reputation and ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.
- Knowledge of employee advocacy programs and the ability to empower employees to be brand ambassadors and advocates on social media platforms.

If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island or Washington work location, the compensation range for this position is between $193,000.00 and $358,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
