The Messenger, a leading digital news media company that launched in May 2023, has a primary mission to provide accurate, balanced, non-partisan news across a wide range of topics. We aim to innovate how news and information are presented, by focusing on modern consumer habits and leveraging various social platforms.

Job Description:

We are currently seeking a dynamic and innovative Partnerships Coordinator. This individual will develop and leverage relationships with platforms such as Twitch, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Kik, TikTok, YouTube, Flipboard, and Reddit, among others, ensuring our content is impactful and well-distributed. The ideal candidate will also form partnerships with established and up-and-coming creators for mutual growth and audience enrichment. A strong understanding of journalism, influencer and creator culture is vital, along with a forward-thinking and innovative approach to content distribution.

Hours and Location:

This role is entirely remote, though hybrid options are available for candidates based near our offices in New York or D.C.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the distribution and optimization of The Messenger's content on third-party platforms.
  • Develop and manage relationships with various social platforms to optimize the reach and impact of our content.
  • Establish partnerships with established and emerging creators and their agents, introducing our audiences to each other's content.
  • Secure exclusive distribution partners for major editorial initiatives.
  • Analyze off-platform content performance to guide editorial and product decision-making.
  • Identify new revenue streams through the monetization of off-platform content.
  • Leverage partner networks to drive participation in The Messenger's events and other community-driven initiatives.
  • Develop and oversee the adoption of our republishing guidelines by media and community partners.
  • Analyze republishing trends to deepen partnerships and identify new opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in content distribution, partnerships, or a similar role within a newsroom or media company.
  • An established industry network and ability to build relationships with peers in editorial, business, and communication roles.
  • Deep understanding of influencer and creator culture and ability to forge meaningful partnerships in these circles.
  • Familiarity with various publishing and distribution platforms, such as AMP, Apple, Facebook Instant, etc.
  • Experience in utilizing marketing and CRM applications to drive user engagement and retention.
  • Proficiency in gathering and analyzing data across platforms.
  • Excellent copywriting, editing, and presentation skills.
  • Proactive communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with search engine and social media optimization strategies.

Salary Range: $110,000/yr - $130,000/yr
