Director, Digital Experience
Reporting to the VP, Marketing Operations and Digital, the Director, Digital Experience will lead digital strategy and execution for our professional programs, diabetes care and research professionals. Key channels and digital products include Professional.Diabetes.org, CRM, email and marketing automation, online communities, virtual event management, and mobile apps.
The Director will optimize and innovate on our family of digital properties for diabetes professionals, resulting in positive and intuitive journeys that enhance the ADA brand and increase relevance as a trusted partner, deliver on user needs and increase engagement, and support acquisition and retention of professional memberships.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on creator and strong collaborator across a variety of functions. They will be adept at leveraging technology to build creative solutions that reach audiences across channels – inclusive of websites, emails, and apps. Navigating and prioritizing workloads to deliver high-performing digital and event-based experiences is a must.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Digital Project Management. Consult with internal stakeholders to maintain and evolve the Professional.diabetes.org website and supporting experiences to maximize user engagement, meet business goals, and effectively represent the ADA brand to diabetes professionals. Oversee and manage schedules for the creation and publishing of content and various digital channel projects, providing strategic guidance and standards on user experience. Develop and manage an audience-focused digital release roadmap that deepens integration between web and other channels, and prioritizes delivery based on audience needs and business goals.
- Insights and Optimization. Set KPIs and metrics to measure the performance of digital channels and products. Partner with Analytics resources to understand user journey patterns (via Google Analytics and/or Glassbox) and translate insights into actionable next steps. Collaborate with Science and Medicine and Professional Membership colleagues to optimize key conversion points, including event registration, membership acquisition and renewals and engagement with content.
- Marketing Technology and Automation. Ensure proper launch, integrations, maintenance, and performance between marketing technology platforms, websites and mobile apps in support of professional audiences - such as Nimble AMS (Salesforce), Drupal, Braze, various event tech solutions, etc. Set up and launch strategic initiatives in our marketing automation platform such as nurture email series, campaign landing pages, and workflows to support the fundraising process. Inform discussions with internal and external technology partners to activate and integrate first-party data (demographic, user interests, behavioral and intent, etc.) for use across channels.
- Event Technology. Coordinate digital logistics for professional webinars and virtual and hybrid conferences, including ADA’s flagship annual event, Scientific Sessions. Lead vendor engagements to build, test and deploy event logistics platforms, including registration setup and data flows, conference apps and digital agendas, event live streaming and post-event content access, etc. Provide on-call support and coordinate standby IT and vendor support during events to address digital event technology issues and ensure seamless and successful live event experiences for professional audiences.
- Cross-Functional Leadership. Work with a fully remote and geographically distributed team. Act as a strategic partner and consultant, interacting with colleagues across various digital, marketing and business areas. Actively contribute as a key member of the Marketing Operations and Digital leadership team. Contribute to a culture of high-performing outcomes and data-informed decision-making.
- Thought Leadership and Innovation. Stay current on the latest marketing trends, competitive landscape, and user insights to inform how we improve our digital strategies and experiences. Stay updated on emerging technologies to enhance the digital event experience. Evangelize and present innovation opportunities to leadership.
- Other responsibilities as assigned. Lead and/or collaborate on other digital projects, as required, to map and reimagine the future.
SKILLS:
- Experience leading cross-functional projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience as a digital product owner of systems (websites and mobile apps preferred).
- Demonstrated strategic and solution-oriented mindset, leveraging insights to inform decisions.
- Proficient understanding of user experience (UX) concepts and end-to-end process design in complex, matrixed operating environments.
- Ability to effectively work with teams in a remote setting including consultants in offshore environments.
- Ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of organization including external and/or internal business partners.
- Experience acting as champion for digital experience best practices, guidelines, and industry standards.
- Fosters collaboration and facilitating teams to deliver results.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and follow through quickly.
- Attention to detail with strong emphasis on accuracy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience implementing a broad variety of marketing technology and digital engagement platforms, (Salesforce, Drupal, and Braze preferred) and managing technology vendor relationships.
- 7+ years' digital experience tenure.
- Health care industry experience preferred.
- Demonstrated comfort level working with and manipulating data sets (i.e., Microsoft Excel) and using marketing analytics platforms (Google Analytics, BigQuery, etc.)
- Agency experience a plus.
Compensation range: $86,000 – 95,000
