Job Description

NY / CA-based award-winning agency AZIONE is looking for an experienced candidate to join its Consumer Lifestyle division as a Senior Vice President. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 12+ years of PR agency experience working across a diverse portfolio of food & beverage, home, and consumer lifestyle brands. Experience working with innovative startups is a plus. Candidates should have a strong desire to accelerate quickly at a fast-paced boutique agency with amazing clients and an impeccable reputation.

Client Relationships & Growth

  • Oversees the growth of account portfolio, proactively identifying and converting business development, editorial, partnership, and talent opportunities to strengthen and expand AZIONE’s remit and influence across
  • Works in collaboration with the Managing Director and EVP to build and deliver client development plans, to solidify and grow AZIONE’s scope of work and service set with clients, translating into organic growth
  • Drives new business including RFP analysis, proposal development, and in-person presentations
  • Contributes to new business growth by introducing the agency to new business opportunities and industry partnerships
  • Assists Managing Director in forecasting overarching team structuring needs, in line with client scopes and growth opportunities
  • Acts as a source of inspiration to clients, bringing expertise, knowledge, and experience to all conversations, initiatives, and projects
  • Ensures all accounts are in good standing
  • Acts as senior client lead, communicating and collaborating with clients, spearheading larger editorial/thought leadership opportunities, talent/influencer partnerships, and brand collaborations
  • Leads in-person meetings and calls with clients in partnership with the senior account lead
  • Attends 1:1 media briefings with clients as needed (i.e. interviews, desksides, press previews, event activations, and more)
  • Drafts scopes of work and contracts to facilitate new client onboarding process

Strategic Thinking

  • Actively pitches across client priorities to consistently secure business + brand features, ad trade stories, executive profiles, podcasts, and trend stories to articulate marketplace differentiation and reach key stakeholders
  • Shepherds the curation of appropriate editorial and brand partnership opportunities while overseeing the influencer + talent programming for client projects
  • Conceptualizes and executes 360-degree integrated PR campaigns as an extension of clients’ in-house marketing teams, inclusive of business + lifestyle media relations, influencer engagement, brand partnerships, and experiential activations, meeting OKRS (when applicable)
    • Oversee cadence of media coverage, messaging, and press material development, ensuring all are in line with clients’ overall strategy and brand guidelines
    • Oversee and execute business communications strategies, including fundraising announcements, mergers + acquisitions, executive leadership transitions, and more
    • Draft higher-level scopes of work, pitches, press releases, and talking points as needed

  • Oversees the implementation of brand partnerships

Excellence in Delivery

  • Maintains and continuously grows a network of powerful “turnkey” media, brand partners, and influencer relationships
  • Stays apprised of new technologies and business trends, affiliate platforms, social media trends, and more, assessing brand relevance and strategic use
  • Continuously stays up-to-date on best practices relating to reporting to underscore qualitative and quantitative ROI and the impact of executed campaigns
  • Acts as the final set of eyes on all client and press-facing materials for quality assurance and excellence
  • Anticipates and proactively offers solutions for issues specific to assigned clients/initiatives

Leadership

  • Demonstrates professionalism, respect, and appropriate conduct at all times, setting an example for the team
  • Mentors, leads, and inspires both portfolio division and individual account teams effectively and responsibly to manage situations with a positive outcome
  • At a brand level, demonstrates accountability for client success by clearly defining account team roles and responsibilities, providing coaching, guidance, and tools to facilitate goal achievement
  • Contributes to building a positive culture for the team and broader studio
  • Encourages a positive collaboration and synergy between the PR + Digital teams
  • Demonstrates proactivity and comradery, leaning into broader team needs and asks where expertise and/or capacity is required
  • Development of the team culture and staffing development, attending and leading team-wide calls to nurture team growth, steering performance review process, and empowering others to take accountability for their learning
  • Provides senior input to agency-wide initiatives, staff/mentoring programs, and partnerships
  • Creates tools, techniques, and mentoring to inspire others to take responsibility for their own work and personal development
  • Develops the people development strategy for the team
  • Displays integrity, honesty, reliability, responsiveness and openness to be trusted by clients and internal teams
  • Actively appreciates colleagues, clients, and suppliers to recognize and reward great work.

Skills and Responsibilities

  • Own the development and implementation of PR strategy, ongoing account action items, and client reporting with no executive guidance
  • Develop creative and strategic media campaigns around new product launches/initiatives and supervise account team members to secure a high volume of impactful placements in top-tier outlets across print, digital, and broadcast media
  • Take responsibility and accountability for all team members, clearly defining roles and providing guidance and tools to facilitate goal achievement and client success
  • Oversee and own top-to-bottom performance of accounts, ensuring quality work, deadline, and media coverage goals are met
  • Serve as senior client contact and team leader; address client issues thoughtfully and effectively
  • Draft and be the final say on press releases, pitches, positioning statements, talking points, key messaging for brand spokespeople, briefing materials, and more
  • Consistently secure brand features, executive profiles, and trend stories for clients
  • Maintain and continuously grow a network of powerful “turnkey” relationships with media and potential partners for collaborations and proactively use to help make clients leaders in respective categories
  • Lead in-person meetings and weekly calls with client
  • Lead new business processes including research, proposal, and pitch preparation without any executive guidance
  • Constantly innovate proposals bringing new ideas to the table
  • Manage account team including, Account Director, Account Manager, Senior Account Executive, Junior Account Executive, and Account Coordinator

To be considered: You must be a savvy, successful self-starter with 12+ years of relevant professional experience. You must know how to approach problem-solving with outside-the-box solutions and be willing to take on a diverse range of assignments and creative projects. You must be based out of CA or NY.

Salary Range: $150,000 - $170,000 (commensurate with experience)
