Responsibilities

Page is seeking a director of communications for our diverse and growing firm. The position will be responsible for developing and implementing the communications strategy for our award-winning practice, managing internal and external relations activity, and leading the communication team’s work.

The communications team promotes the firm's reputation through all external and internal communications, including the website, social media, public relations campaigns, project photography, awards, and more. We prefer that this person is in our Washington, DC, office. However, the role can be in Boston, Houston, Denver, Austin, or Dallas. The position is highly collaborative with our marketing and business development teams.

The ideal candidate will be an energetic and adaptable communications professional with over eight years of experience in creative industries. Experience with, or a background in, architecture is an advantage.

Responsibilities Will Include

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to increase the visibility of Page’s market sectors, practice areas, and thought leaders.
  • Lead external communications to promote positive coverage and enhance the firm’s reputation, including media relations, public relations campaigns, website content development, social media engagement, proactive storytelling, and awards submittals.
  • Develop executive communications strategies to build transparency among employees and a visible external reputation, encompassing media, thought leadership, events, and influencer engagement.
  • Partner with key stakeholders across the company to facilitate internal communications, keeping employees informed and inspired.
  • Challenge our collaborative communications, marketing, and business development teams to think differently and generate ideas around communication channels and platforms.
  • Develop strategies and protocols for communicating during crises or emergencies to mitigate potential reputational damage.
  • Provide sound media counsel, working closely with our firm leadership.
  • Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communications to maintain a cohesive and recognizable brand identity.
  • Plan and execute internal and external events such as leadership retreats, all-staff virtual meetings, and conferences.
  • Collaborate with our Creative Studio to capture project photography and craft multimedia content.
  • Partner with our digital lead to ensure an integrated communications effort.
  • Recommend and measure quantitative and qualitative KPIs and goals to track the effectiveness of communications campaigns.
  • Direct communications staff and manage the communications budget.

Qualifications

    • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field.
    • At least eight years of experience in public relations, communications, marketing, or journalism.
    • Experience guiding cross-functional teams through the various stages of strategy building and refinement, leading creative ideation from discovery and insights to final concepts.
    • Experience building out comprehensive communications plans for creative projects.
    • Knowledge of media and communications principles, ethics, practices, and techniques, including technical requirements.
    • Strong executive presence, comfortable collaborating with senior leadership and key shareholders on the company's messaging.
    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including business writing, news writing/editing for print and broadcast, conversing by telephone, and conducting presentations to large or small groups.
    • Strong knowledge of digital communication platforms.
    • Strong people skills and the ability to communicate plainly and directly, with empathy and insight.
    • The flexibility to work on several projects simultaneously and manage and delegate the team workload.
    • The ability to provide many dynamic solutions when impeded by challenges.
    • A natural tendency to think about strategy from an integrated perspective featuring digital, social, influencers, strategic partners, and experiences.
    • A keen appreciation and understanding of narrative storytelling relative to architecture, engineering, design, and related consulting practice areas.
    • The willingness to travel as necessary.
