Membership Associate, Digital Marketing & Content Creator

Responsible for performing diversified digital communication tasks, writing, administrative, and event functions for the Membership & Annual Fund team to ensure an efficient and effective flow of work and communication within the development office and with the component museums. This is a union position.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Minimum of 2-3 years of digital marketing experience required. Experience in non-profit educational or cultural organizations desirable.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Strong copy writing skills with the ability to write compelling stories for multiple platforms using a variety of voices. Experience with cross-platform marketing, digital marketing, digital platforms, and trends. Knowledge of current and emerging technologies, channels, and platforms. Graphic design, photography and video editing experience required. Proficiency in video and photo editing software is required. Raiser’s Edge and Luminate knowledge a plus. Must have excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail required. Patience, teamwork orientation, and a sense of humor highly desirable. Also requires a highly developed customer relations attitude and the ability to prioritize workflow and meet deadlines. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is primarily sedentary in nature; no special demands are required.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Works with the Digital Marketing Manager on membership and annual giving digital fundraising and engagement strategies. Assists with planning, producing, creating, and managing digital content to be used across all digital channels.
  • Assists with the development of communication strategies, messaging, and brand awareness/consistency to engage current and prospective audiences, boost retention, acquire new members and donors, upgrade members, and build the member-to-donor giving pipeline.
  • Maintains and ensures compliance with solicitation, acknowledgement and reporting schedules. This includes preparing and sending email solicitations and producing engaging and timely social media content. Responsible for alerting management to any issues that prevent adherence from expected schedules and for routine reporting tasks to measure performance.
  • Creates videos, photos, graphics, and other content for social media channels, ensuring internal proper permissions and policies are obtained and followed.
  • Schedules and directs film and photo opportunities, develops interview talking points, creates film stock footage, edits film and photo content, and distributes for internal and external approvals.
  • Writes, proofreads and prepares written material and correspondence for all digital marketing channels and platforms, including email campaigns, social media posts, web copy, online gift forms, digital membership cards, and more. Must follow assigned protocols for collecting and verifying information used in correspondence.
  • Creates, manages and uploads lists for email marketing campaigns
  • Creates content, uploads lists, and performs analytics using the digital membership card platform and dashboard.
  • Ensures proper sponsor recognition across platforms.
  • Provides prompt and courteous customer service at all times. Monitors and responds to social media comments and messages. Serves as backup member services representative to answer phone and email inquiries. Understands and can explain and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures associated with membership and development. Analyzes situations accurately and adopts appropriate course of action.
  • Generates digital marketing data and analytical reports using a variety of platforms, including Raiser’s Edge, Luminate, Google Analytics, Hootsuite, and other databases and platforms, as needed. Must respect confidentiality of data and ensure ethical standards of the field are followed. Keeps information about processes and procedures current and stored in the appropriate location.
  • Represents CMP’s membership program in public and at internal and external events, which may occur in evenings or on weekends.
  • Manages department invoices including the assignment of account numbers and tracking expenses to approved budgets. Monitors budgets as assigned and brings to the attention of management any areas of concern.
  • Performs special projects and support as needed to meet the goals of the department.
  • Accomplishes responsibilities in a timely fashion with a minimum of supervision and meets established deadlines.
