Summary

The Director, Public Relations is a well-rounded Marketing and Communications leader that will help Smarsh build and scale its brand with key external influencers across top-tier media outlets, key analyst influencer and other key influencers. This compelling storyteller is a thoughtful, detail-oriented communicator and an effective-relationship builder. Requiring an understanding of technology trends in the market and how they impact our customers and our business, the Director is responsible for creating and executing corporate PR, AR and influencer strategies.

How will you contribute?

Public (& Influencer) Relations:

  • Own relationships with global public relations firms
  • Secure a steady drumbeat of top-tier and targeted trade media coverage that conveys the unique value of Smarsh solutions and our industry leadership, and leverage social media to amplify in the market
  • Develop and drive programs to accelerate thought leadership, marketing programs and customer storytelling, and empower the field with clear, compelling narratives
  • Prepare spokespeople for media interviews and speaking engagements, including senior leadership across operations, product, technology, sales, marketing and other business functions as needed
  • Supervise media relations for global announcements and integrated campaigns, shaping newsworthy content and growing the Smarsh presence and reputation with key media across business and technology outlets
  • Develop and edit market-facing content including statements, press releases, contributed stories, presentations and other content as needed
  • Measure and analyze press coverage to inform PR strategy and planning, reporting results back to stakeholders
  • Research, submit, and track submissions for prominent industry, technology, and company awards

Analyst Relations:

  • Own relationships with leading technology research analyst firms like Gartner and Forrester
  • Collaborate with Product and Product Marketing to drive coverage and placement in analyst research
  • Lead company participation in Analyst research projects, and drive/maintain briefing decks and assets
  • Contribute to enablement content to support internal teams with the latest research, trends, and commentary from media, analysts and influencers

What will you bring?

  • Experience building and driving outcome-focused marketing, PR and AR programs
  • Exceptional interpersonal and influence management skills to work with cross-functional teams and drive alignment among key stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge and experience leveraging social media to drive awareness and engagement
  • Proactive, strategic, and solutions-focused marketing leader
  • Excellent communication skills (spoken and written) with exceptional storytelling skills
  • Ownership mentality and proven ability to meet deadlines, work collaboratively with others, and ensure high quality deliverables
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to use data to guide decision-making and resource allocations
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • BA or BS Degree
  • Approximately 8+ years of PR or communications experience and 2 years of people management experience
  • Track record leading executive-level communications. Built company messaging and narratives, and integrated through various communications materials
  • Strong understanding of media and influencers in the general business and technology sector

$130,000 - $167,000/year

The above salary range represents Smarsh's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting. Any applicable bonus programs will be discussed during the recruiting process.

The salary for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, location, specialty and training.

Local cost of living assessments are done for each new hire at the time of offer.
