Director, Influencer Marketing
Purpose
- The Director, Influencer Marketing is responsible for leading the Client Dedicated Influencer Marketing practice, process development, and influencer network development to drive powerful outcomes for clients.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Oversees the Client Dedicated Associate Director, Influencer (AD), and in some instances, Sr. Influencer Marketing Managers. The larger Client Dedicated Influencer Marketing Management Team, managed directly by the AD includes Client Dedicated Sr. Influencer Marketing Managers, Influencer Marketing Managers, Influencer Marketing Associates, and interns.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ensures quality of work produced is in line with agency and client expectations, and maintains a disposition that there is always something more we can do – even when facing what feels like a major undertaking.
- Problem solves challenges and opportunities identified via employee and client feedback.
- Develops a strong, connected team of influencer marketers.

- Is passionate about finding unique ways to utilize influencer marketing, emerging channels and tools to solve marketing challenges effectively.
- Willingly rolls up sleeves to support key influencer negotiations and problem solve alongside the team in order to drive most effective results for clients and agency.
- Responsible for improving the influencer marketing campaign process to position McKinney for continued scale and growth, including collaboration with the non- Client Dedicated Director, Influencer Marketing.
- Cultivates relationships with creators, talent managers, and platform representatives to bring to life bold and compelling marketing campaigns.
- Reviews and analyzes influencer marketing team performance against objectives and provides weekly guidance and analysis to senior leadership.
- Works closely with the Account Team and Strategy Team to drive cohesive performance and alignment.
- Maintains a strong ability to prioritize work and resources based on importance and timeliness. Timelines, budgets, and availability shift; we need someone who adapts quickly and can roll with the nature of the business.
- Creates client rapport and works to deepen knowledge of powerful marketing.
- Reviews and executes Influencer and creator contracts.
- Work with McKinney’s legal resources to stay apprised of relevant risks and laws impacting influencer marketing.
- Directs influencer marketing thought and strategy, including staying on top of influencer marketing trends and major industry shifts.
- Lives into the values of McKinney.
- Accountable for moving work forward within project teams by solutioning with the team, offering training and assistance when needed; and developing strong relationships with talent agencies and influencer partners
- Consults on campaign strategy to facilitate Influencer Marketing Management team members’ growth and personnel updates including greater Influencer Marketing team initiatives and process improvements
- Informs on higher-level agency growth and operational decisions
- Contributes to agency process improvement initiatives, as needed
- Assists with influencer platform management improvements on behalf of the Influencer Marketing team, attends monthly platform specific meetings and assists in rolling out new products to the team; to include, but not limited to, Captiv8
- Collaborates with data team to set process for campaign integration with data needs
Required Skills/Abilities
- Has experience leading both small and large-scale influencer activations from strategy to execution.
- Has 5+ years experience leading and mentoring teams.
- Is acutely aware of cultural and social platform nuances, payment and procedure policies and management logistics.
- Demonstrates powerful negotiation skills that benefit McKinney and its clients while maintaining healthy relationships with creators and talent managers.
- Demonstrates impressive oral and written communication skills.
- Enthusiastic to look at any brand, project or challenge with a fresh point of view.
- Has relevant knowledge across key social media properties including, but not limited to, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Reddit, Twitch, blogs, etc.
- Has experience producing quality work from idea through execution that’s on time and within budget.
- Has experience working with and presenting to internal and external audiences.
- Has experience in digital marketing, and/or influencer talent management.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to internal groups in-person and remotely.
- Proven ability to cultivate strong relationships based in mutual respect and trust with peers.
- Ability to train new team members on team processes and provide clarity.
- Capable of providing clear, concise feedback and coaching on deliverables.
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills to ensure all of the moving pieces are captured and communicated
Travel Requirements
- This position requires travel up to 25%, mostly domestic. Out-of-state and overnight travel is occasionally expected.

Experience
In addition, you meet these minimum requirements:
- 5+ years management experience leading digital marketing teams
- 5+ years of proven influencer marketing experience
- 4+ years digital marketing agency experience
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sittings at a desk and working on a computer
SALARY RANGE
Our estimated range for this role is $130k - $150k
Compensation packages are based on the skill level and experience each candidate brings to their role. There may also be a more senior or junior position available that could be a better fit with your expertise. Each level has its own compensation range.
