Job Description
Reporting to the director of communications and marketing for the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, the content creator will provide photography and videography for use on the college’s social media platforms, on websites, alongside online news stories, in email communications, and in other media as needs arise. In collaboration with the college’s communications team, college leadership, faculty, and students, the content creator will seek opportunities for visual storytelling and provide support for internal training. The content creator will be a member of the college’s communications and marketing team and will also assist in staffing events alongside the college’s Advancement team, providing video and photography.
The content provided will align with the college and university priorities and goals. The content creator will be expected to turn around photo and video work quickly, at times within a day or two, depending on the needs. The content creator also may collaborate with the university’s visual team.
The ideal candidate will have proven ability to create photo and video content appropriate for a range of audiences and platforms, from online storytelling to social media. The ideal candidate will be comfortable communicating directly with faculty and students.
A portfolio of work is required as part of the initial application.
Required Qualifications
- Experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in photojournalism, communications, journalism, or related discipline
- Demonstrated professional photography and videography experience, including experience producing videos for a variety of social media audiences
- Experience producing photos and videos to accompany online news stories
- An understanding of photography, video, and/or branding/marketing principles
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, prioritize competing assignments, and organize work to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment to accomplish objectives
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in photojournalism, communications, journalism, or related discipline
