About the Role

As a foundational member of the Corporate Development team, you will be responsible for shaping the business development strategy as well as sourcing and closing strategic partnerships (including biotechs, pharmaceutical companies and academic research institutions). In this newly created role, you will report to the Vice President, Corporate Development, and work cross-functionally with key members of the executive team including our CEO.

We believe in the strength of our in-office culture and the expectation is that you be in our Boston (Seaport) based office 3 days per week.

Your Role

  • Contribute to the refinement, articulation, and execution of the BD strategy
  • Lead and close transactions (e.g., license/collaboration agreements)
  • Support corporate partnering efforts (negotiation, coordination of due diligence, etc.)
  • Develop, maintain and execute a strong pipeline of new business and qualified leads
  • Conduct research on emerging business trends, competitive landscape, and target companies for potential partnership
  • Work closely with key stakeholders across product development, computational biology, translational science, finance and legal to ensure successful execution the business development strategy and objectives
  • Become an expert in our product; communicate the value proposition to research, clinical development, and commercial stakeholders within biotech and pharma
  • Act as an Alliance Manager with key research collaborators, biotech or biopharmaceutical partners, and suppliers
  • Lead the build out of tools, and processes (e.g., CRM) to support growth and scalability of the business development function

Your Background

  • You earned your PhD or MS degree in relevant scientific field
  • You bring 5+ years life sciences experience in business development
  • You have previous experience in diagnostics / biomarker deal making. You have a deal sheet that demonstrates success in negotiating and collaborating with third parties
  • You have a deep understanding of genomics, diagnostics / biomarkers and other related technologies, biopharmaceutical R&D, and the drug development process
  • You are knowledgeable about trends and technologies in biopharmaceutical R&D
  • Spent time at a top-tier strategy consulting firm? This is a plus!
  • Your colleagues would describe your communication style as open and articulate
  • You love start-ups and starting up; meaning you’re comfortable navigating complexity and ambiguity in a highly dynamic environment
  • You have excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills and are comfortable working independently
