HumanN is hiring for a Director of Brand Management. This is a critical role on the Brand Management team that will support the growth of the Humann product portfolio to help people proactively support their cardiovascular health. A primary function of this role is leading the retail/shopper marketing strategy, planning and execution to deliver consistent, breakthrough and impactful brand communications to drive consumer recruitment for key strategic retailers. Another key function of this role is to lead the maintenance of the Humann product portfolio to accomplish our brand strategy and objectives. This is a pivotal role that requires strong brand management experience, marketing tactic expertise, marketing acumen, a deep understanding of consumer behavior and insights, and the ability to drive innovative brand initiatives. This position reports to the VP of Brand Management and works closely with individuals across the Creative, Retail, Digital, TV, Retention, Ecommerce, Finance, Product Development, Marketing Activation, Amazon, Medical and Operations teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Retailer/Shopper Marketing Strategy and Plans: Drive consumer recruitment and mutual growth for key strategic retailers by developing the annual strategy, plans and execution in close collaboration with the Retail Sales, Marketing, Digital, Creative teams, Brokers and other key partners. Knowledge and expertise in shopper marketing tactics is required to achieve objectives effectively and efficiently.
  • Lead Marketing Activation Strategy and Plans: Develop integrated marketing strategy and plans that align with the overall brand strategy and business strategy. Key marketing activations include digital, eCommerce, marketplace (Amazon, .com), and B2C experiential.
  • Lead the Development of Campaign and Product Marketing Briefs: Develop and deliver marketing campaign and new product launch briefs to inspire breakthrough and impactful creative by channel and specific tactic to accomplish core objectives. Evaluate creative output to ensure alignment with the marketing brief, brand, and objectives.
  • Lead the Oversight of all Brand Communications: Oversee all brand communication initiatives, including advertising campaigns, content creation, social media presence, Ecommerce presence, traditional/OOH, public relations, influencer, experiential, sampling, email, customer engagement programs, and retail/shopper marketing initiatives. Enforce brand guidelines and compliance to maintain brand consistency and integrity across all communication channels.
  • Manage the Product Portfolio: Lead product maintenance and commercialization initiatives to accomplish brand strategy and objectives (e.g. reformulations, new packaging, new designs, new flavors/size).
  • Product and Portfolio Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including strategy, product development and operations, to align product portfolio / sku management to the brand strategy (e.g. sku rationalization, inventory wind-down strategy).
  • Support Market Research and Analysis: Lead, develop, and conduct thorough market research to identify consumer insights, shopper insights, innovation/concept learnings, industry trends, and competitive insights to optimize business decisions. Utilize market intelligence solutions and platforms to uncover insights for brand positioning, product excellence, innovation, and marketing communications.
  • Team Leadership: Provide strong leadership and guidance to the brand team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Set clear SMART objectives, monitor progress, and provide directing, coaching, and support appropriately to team members.
  • Brand Performance Tracking & Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and evaluate the effectiveness of brand initiatives in collaboration with Marketing and Finance teams. Analyze brand/ product performance metrics, key up/down drivers, and provide actionable insights and recommendations to optimize brand strategy, initiatives, and tactics.
  • Budget Management: Manage and allocate budgets for the Brand Management function, optimizing resources for maximum impact.
  • Support the development of monthly, quarterly, annual business reviews.
  • Support new product innovation strategy and commercialization projects, as needed, across the commercialization and development stages.
  • Support VP, Brand Management with other strategic projects, as needed.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge and expertise on retail-driving marketing activations and shopper marketing programs.
  • Strong project management skills, taking a project from concept to execution with all key stakeholders aligned.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate consumer/shopper insights into actionable plans.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing brand strategies and plans that drive brand equity and growth.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling abilities written, verbal, and presentation.
  • Ability to write a clear and concise marketing brief that can fire up a creative partner to develop breakthrough and impactful content with the ability to successfully assess outputs against the brief for refinements.
  • Solid understanding of consumer behavior, market dynamics, and emerging trends.
  • Proficiency in market research techniques and tools.
  • Strong management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Leadership and team management experience, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Outcome-oriented, self-starter, focused on delivering results.
  • Strong understanding and experience with multiple marketing channels, including digital, paid, social, etc.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant brand management and/or marketing experience with strong knowledge on retailer/shopper marketing.
  • 3+ years of people management experience.
  • CPG experience is preferred but with experience/passion in Health & Wellness.
  • Strong experience in launching products for consumer-packaged goods brands (commercialization & activation).
  • Solid experience with retrieving, organizing, and analyzing data from IRI/Nielsen databases to monitor performance and trends.
  • Solid understanding of customer acquisition management and sales metrics.
  • Strong experience in directing and managing an internal team or external agency partner.
