Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Marketing Manager to lead our marketing department. You’ll play a critical role on a small but mighty marketing team, driving brand awareness, product trial, category share, and revenue growth. You’ll be responsible for bringing to life multi-channel marketing strategies that help us build and maintain a strong and consistent brand through online and in-store channels which include: shopper marketing (in-store & digital), packaging, digital & traditional media, social media & influencer, DTC, sales collateral, shopper marketing, public relations, tradeshows & events, and ecommerce.
You’ll be a true marketing generalist being comfortable, confident, and organized in managing all aspects of marketing. You’ll develop brand strategy that is rooted in consumer insights and bring the brand to life creatively and consistently across all brand touch points.
Above all, the successful Senior Marketing Manager will have an agile, entrepreneurial spirit and roll-up-the-sleeves mentality, including willingness to find scrappy solutions, take calculated risks, and act with a sense of urgency.
Education & Experience
(REQUIRED) Minimum 5+ years brand marketing experience
(REQUIRED) Minimum 3+ years of product-based experience
(REQUIRED) BA/BS degree in business, marketing, communications, advertising, or similar
Experience building a brand from the ground up a huge plus
Skills
Data-Driven: Experience interpreting and presenting on syndicated (quantitative) data (Nielsen, IRI, Numerator, etc.) to derive actionable insights and strategic implications
Critical Thinking: Strong analytical acumen and critical thinking skills complemented by well-developed marketing intuition to confidently take action and make recommendations
Agile: Comfort with ambiguity and uncertainty, able to navigate unfamiliar situations and can handle organizational pivots
Creative: Strong design and copywriting skills and the ability to create on-brand marketing material
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of core marketing principles like segmentation, targeting, positioning, lead generation, customer value proposition, etc.
Team Work: Strong team player who enjoys working cross-functionally with team members and agencies/vendors to solve problems quickly and get projects across the line
Autonomous: Highly proactive and takes initiative to get things across the line; strong multitasking and time-management skills
Key Result Areas & Responsibilities
Oversee Marketing Strategy and Marketing Operations
- Manage smooth marketing operations, keeping the team informed.
- Develop marketing strategy that maintains a strong, consistent brand voice and image across all channels, including, but not limited to:
- Promotional campaigns
- New Menu campaigns
- Email marketing
- Social media
- Digital advertising
- Podcast
- Rewards & referral
- SMS marketing
- Brand photography
- Special projects
- Translate brand strategies into actionable plans using consumer insights.
- Proper maintenance of marketing systems (Asana boards, Klaviyo, YotPo, etc.)
- Resolve marketing issues with urgency and maintain marketing systems.
- Prioritize and make proactive decisions.
Implement, audit, and maintain all department standards
- Create, implement, and regularly audit/update all Marketing department standards
- Ensure all involved employees adhere to all department standards
Drive Continuous Improvement
- Seek growth opportunities through data analysis, market research, and trend identification.
- Lead innovation for marketing improvements.
- Evaluate performance metrics and maintain department data.
- Lead and communicate continuous improvement projects from the top down and bottom up.
Monitor Impact on Profit Margins
- Report on performance metrics affecting profit margins.
- Manage department spending responsibly.
Efficient Department Staffing
- Align staffing with labor plans.
- Collaborate with the COO on staffing audits and improvements.
- Manage department scheduling.
- Manage Training and Development
Comprehensive Training
- Create and update Individual and Cross Training Programs.
- Ensure timely completion of training and address performance issues.
- Ensure Accountability to all department training plans and programs
Team Accountability
- Hold the marketing team accountable to all responsibilities, projects, and goals.
- Use tools like Asana for tracking and resource allocation.
- Communicate business updates and embody core company values.
Manage Departmental Company-Wide Processes
- Conduct timely mid-year and end-of-year reviews.
- Implement actions from Employee Engagement Surveys and 360 Reviews.
- Address conflicts and disciplinary matters with urgency and proper documentation.
