As the state’s largest hunger-relief organization serving 20 counties in South Carolina, we source and distribute 30 million pounds of food each year. With locations in the Midlands, Pee Dee and Upstate, our mission is to build a hunger-free tomorrow by feeding our neighbors in need and addressing food insecurity. Through a network of almost 400 partner agencies, we are actively working in all of our communities to end hunger.
Position Overview
Harvest Hope Food Bank searching for a driven, detail-oriented content creator to produce high-quality outputs to support our mission, vision, and values. The content creator will update existing material, generate new and engaging work, and identify new ways to reach our constitutional, contractual and community stakeholders and contribute to the shaping of our stylistic guidelines.
To be a successful content creator, you should focus on appealing to stakeholders’ interests by creating engaging material. Ultimately, an exceptional content creator will promote collaboration between internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistency in our collateral.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Writing, reviewing, editing, and updating content for Harvest Hope’s websites, blogs, marketing materials, social media and similar platforms.
- Conducting research and interviews to learn more about current trends, developments, and perceptions about the subject matter, and then contextualizing your findings.
- Assisting the creative team with the design of promotional materials.
- Using social media to engage stakeholders, respond to questions or complaints, and to promote company initiatives.
- Collaborating with internal departments to establish campaign objectives, complete tasks, and identify and solve problems.
- Monitoring social media and company website metrics.
- Utilizing SEO methods to increase site traffic.
- Suggesting new ways to promote company offerings and to reach consumers.
- Create and manage a marketing advisory council consisting of social media influencers and local subject matter experts with a heart for our mission.

- Supports a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and communicating process and safety improvements.
- Follows all safety policies and procedures, including reporting all unsafe acts and behaviors, safety hazards, incidents, or accidents immediately.
- Acknowledges that HHFB team members are considered emergency responders and may be called in to perform regular or emergent duties in instances of a federal, state or locally declared emergency.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, marketing, communications, or a similar field.
- Experience creating strong, engaging content.
- A portfolio of applicable outputs.
- An understanding of SEO best practices.
- Demonstrated excellence in writing, proofreading, and editing.
- Excellent research, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong listening and communication skills.
- The capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to work efficiently without compromising quality or accuracy.

This position operates primarily in an office setting within the branch. The position requires sitting at a desk and in meetings for long periods of time and involves extensive computer work with frequent interruptions. Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This position will regularly be in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures, including freezers and outdoor weather conditions. With forklift traffic in the facility and product stacked and stored throughout, this position requires someone who is mobile and who can hear and watch for traffic and normal hazards of a warehouse environment. This position may require traveling during the day and responding to organizational needs outside of normal working hours.
