Digital Strategist (contract role)

Proof is a nonprofit news studio led by Pulitzer-Prize-winning investigative journalist Julia Angwin, launching in 2024. Proof is dedicated to pursuing data-driven, scientific investigations in the public interest. Proof is multiplatform, looking to infuse truthful, transparent, trustworthy information into the media ecosystem. We are committed to investigations that provide our audience with transparency into all the data, assumptions, and methodologies underlying our findings.
Proof is seeking to collaborate with a creative and dynamic Digital Strategist who specializes in forging and nurturing partnerships with online creators. This role requires someone with a keen understanding of the digital landscape, including social media trends, influencer marketing, and content creation. The ideal candidate will also have experience in digital media, strong communication skills, a passion for news and storytelling, and an understanding of journalistic ethics and practices.
The Digital Strategist will support the development and implementation of Proof’s digital strategy across social media platforms and be responsible for crafting partnerships with TikTok and YouTube creators as part of that strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with Proof CEO to identify, outreach, and develop strategic partnerships with online creators, influencers, and content platforms to amplify our digital presence and reach new audiences.
- Collaborate with the editorial team to create innovative content strategies.
- Work with Proof executives to develop and populate social media accounts on relevant platforms, and overall strategy for social media posting.
- Monitor trends in digital media, creator marketing, and online communities to inform our strategy and approach.
- Work with Proof executives to negotiate and manage partnership agreements, ensuring they are beneficial and align with our organization's goals and values.
- Coordinate with creators to produce engaging and relevant content, ensuring it aligns with our editorial standards and brand voice.
- Analyze and report on the effectiveness of partnership initiatives.
- Leverage your network of online creators on behalf of Proof.
Requirements
Ideal candidates will have a minimum of three years experience in social media, creator content, and a proven track record of developing successful partnerships with online creators. Candidates do not need to have a background directly in journalism or news, but should be able to demonstrate an understanding and familiarity with the news landscape.
Excellent communication, collaboration and negotiation skills are crucial. Balancing multiple partnerships also requires strong project management skills and the ability to multitask and meet deadlines. Familiarity with Photoshop andor Canva preferred.

—Compensation: $4,000 per month (based on an estimated 15 hours per week).
