Social Media and Communications Associate

Children and Screens: Institute of Digital Media and Child Development is a leading interdisciplinary research and education nonprofit in the field of digital media and child development. The Institute advances and supports interdisciplinary research, informs and educates the public, nurtures human capital in the field, and advocates for sound public policy for children and teens growing up in the digital age.
Children and Screens seeks a self-motivated individual to join our staff as a Social Media and Communications Associate. Working as part of the Communications team, this is a dynamic opportunity to support Children and Screens’ mission to promote evidence-based national dialogue and research via accessible, well-written, and graphically sophisticated social media posts on major platforms.
Responsibilities include:
- Draft, edit, and publish daily educational and promotional social media posts across Institute platforms in collaboration with other members of Communications team
- Create and employ marketing and advertising campaigns to increase engagement and reach on multiple social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, and LinkedIn
- Monitor and interpret key social media analytics data to track success and create recommendations around content and marketing strategy
- Optimize organizational pages on social media platforms
- Monitor and moderate social channels
- Assist in maintaining the social media editorial calendar and schedule
- Collaborate with research and program teams to generate educational content based on research in the field
- Other duties as assigned
Eligibility
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Proven work experience in social media marketing or digital media specialist
- Exceptional grammar, writing, verbal, and communication skills
- Working knowledge of social media analytics tools
- Awareness of social media trends
- Extraordinary work ethic; commitment to achieving excellence
- Outstanding organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently within a fast-paced team environment in a remote setting to support dynamic needs
- Ability to attend regular meetings with staff
- Proficiency in all Google applications, especially Drive, Sheets, Docs, and Gmail
- Experience in graphics design or creation for social media in Adobe suite or Canva preferred
Compensation
Children and Screens: Institute of Digital Media and Child Development values equity, transparency, and clarity in pay. The annual salary for this position starts at $53,000.
