Location: Remote
Type: Contract, Project Basis
Compensation: $2,300 monthly retainer with a 25% bonus structure to be allotted quarterly. This initial contract will run from April 2024 -December 2024, with the option to renew based on performance.
Position Overview
We are seeking an in-house Content Producer / Content Creator to create short and long-form video content for Black Men Build’s social media presence on YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram. As a core member of our growing Communications team, you are someone who can seamlessly engage with political, historical, and cultural content in a way that engages, entertains, and moves people to action.
The ideal candidate is highly creative and self-motivated, has excellent communication skills, and collaborates well with others. This person should be comfortable acting as a content creator and video editor/producer, adept at creating beautiful video content across platforms that adhere to brand guidelines and voice. While the primary focus will be on short-form content, priority will be given to individuals with long-form video content experience.
This role will work closely with the Strategic Communications Manager and report to the Communications Director.
Responsibilities
What you’ll do...
- Create entertaining, educational, and relevant video content for Black Men Build social media that people want to share
- Work on crafting engaging, educational video content that helps further our mission of expanding Men’s Circles across the country, developing existing and new hubs, political education initiatives, fundraising, growth of our WARTIME magazine, and general brand awareness
- Conceptualize, script, produce, and shoot short-form video content for our social channels, primarily TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts
- Evolve our short-form video strategy with an eye towards quantitative analysis: run lots of content experiments and iterate on the ones that work.
What we’re looking for...
- 2-3 years creating social media content either as an independent creator and/or for brands, organizations, or organizations
- Comfortable being on camera
- Experience working with quick deadlines and/or in fast-paced content environment (newsroom, entertainment, rapid response)
- Video production experience – you’re intimately familiar with in-app creator tools across social platforms and expert at editing software like Adobe Premiere
- Ability to create video content with adherence to preexisting brand guidelines
- In-tune with social trends, even before they hit; ability to respond ASAP to rapid response moments in politics and culture to capitalize on those opportunities
- Adept at creating content that resonates with Black audiences across a variety of platforms (ex. Discord, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X)
- Ability to work independently, stick to project deadlines, and meet monthly deliverables. This is a project-based/contract role, and will require someone to manage their own work flow and communicate seamlessly.
