Compensation: $110,000 to $120,000 Annually

The Senior Manager, Brand Marketing is responsible for supporting the development and execution of the San Francisco 49ers brand strategy and initiatives across multiple functions. This includes, but is not limited to, brand strategy and storytelling, creative development, consumer research, advertising, retail marketing and product licensing, influencer marketing, fan engagement, youth marketing, flag football, and local and international multicultural marketing. This role also supports marketing efforts for both 49ers and non-NFL events as needed. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring alignment with overall objectives and maintaining high standards of quality.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Strategic Support: Assists the Senior Director of Brand and Integrated Marketing in shaping the overarching 49ers brand strategy and marketing campaign development.
  • Campaign Execution: Manages the execution and deliverables for all campaigns, including 49ers brand initiatives, revenue initiatives, and NFL themes/activations (Salute to Service, Crucial Catch, etc.).
  • Campaign Management: Owns various tactics from conceptualization to execution, while managing brand, timelines, and respective budgets.
  • Performance Measurement: Measures and reports on marketing campaign performance, evaluating against KPIs and ROI.
  • Consumer Insights: Collaborates with Business Strategy & Analytics on fan and in-market consumer research to develop valuable insights for strategic marketing plans.
  • Brand Standards: Manages the review and approval of 49ers brand usage to ensure adherence to brand standards, terminology, and messaging consistency.
  • Creative Development: Develops creative brand marketing programs by working with internal team groups and outside agencies to deliver content and marketing concepts, boosting 49ers fan engagement and loyalty.
  • Media Partnerships: Develops and maintains relationships with media partners (local, domestic, and international) for both storytelling and technical aspects of sharing the 49ers stories with various audiences. Collaborates with media partners and technology companies on next-level fan engagement in collaboration with Corporate Partnerships, 49ers Studios, Ticket Sales, Community, Retail, and Business Intelligence departments.
  • International Media Coordination: Coordinates with Corporate Communications and Football Communications teams to manage media interviews and content collaborations, ensuring consistent brand messaging and managing brand reputation.
  • Digital Content Strategy: Facilitates and coordinates production for various digital content programs for 49ers International Media partners in key markets while analyzing campaign performance and fan insights to optimize future marketing efforts.
  • Advertising Management: Oversees advertising media plans and production for 49ers and non-NFL events; builds advertising plans, place media buys, negotiate trade, manage creative production and trafficking, and complete post-performance recaps.
  • Retail Marketing: Manages retail marketing and consumer product licensing with the NFL and third-party vendors.
  • Multicultural and International Marketing: Develops local multicultural and international marketing plans based on league agency insights and meet with key internal stakeholders (Digital/Social, Production, Partnerships) to outline and track against deliverables.
  • Influencer Marketing: Manages and develops influencer marketing programming, including managing existing influencer relationships and identifying new influencers with a special focus on Gen Z.
  • Flag Football: Manages and develops the Flag Football strategy, including planning and overseeing youth camp operations and marketing strategy both domestically and internally, targeting the next generation of 49ers fans.
  • Fan Engagement: Manages and develops the Fan Engagement strategy, coordinating fan engagement activities and grassroots marketing strategy including invasions, fan group relationships, fan clubs, and event activations.
  • Historical Knowledge: Maintains deep knowledge of the San Francisco 49ers organization and history, and what inspires The Faithful.
  • Industry Trends: Stays current with NFL team and league marketing trends and technologies to keep the 49ers brand at the forefront of cutting-edge developments in brand marketing. Ideate engaging opportunities for brand exposure and fan engagement.
  • Budget Management: Manages and tracks marketing expenses against budgets.
  • Vendor Relationships: Manages relationships and partnerships with vendors, agencies, etc.

Required Abilities and Skills:

  • Campaign Strategy: Ability to work with internal departments to craft and execute both online and offline campaign strategies.
  • Digital Content Expertise: Understanding of digital content strategies, including video production, audio recording, and editing for television, radio, and digital channels.
  • Creative Direction: Eye for design with the ability to assess creative work and provide clear direction.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively, balancing and prioritizing multiple or competing tasks.
  • Efficiency: Understands the most effective and efficient ways to accomplish tasks within the parameters of organizational hierarchy, processes, systems, timelines, and budget.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to use logic and reasoning to evaluate information and determine the best interpretation.
  • Project Management: Ability to initiate, design, plan, execute, monitor, and evaluate the outcomes of projects or initiatives.
  • Marketing Strategy: Ability to craft and execute grassroots, influencer, and youth marketing strategies.
  • Writing Skills: Strong written skills with the ability to create project briefs, copywrite, and edit team messaging and advertising scripts.
  • Relationship Building: Demonstrates the ability to effectively build a network of contacts at all levels within the industry and community, both internally and externally.
  • Communication: Communicates orally and in writing in a clear, concise, and impartial manner.
  • Team Collaboration: Encourages open communication and builds consensus. Uses tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive information, and keeps stakeholders informed of decisions and directives as appropriate.
  • Collaboration: Fosters a collaborative approach across the department and organization.

Qualifications:

  • Education: At lease 8-12 years of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Industry Experience: Previous experience in team-related sports is essential.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Creative Skills:
  • Video editing, photo editing, and graphic design (e.g., Adobe Suite, Final Cut Pro).
  • Audio production, mixing, and mastering for commercials.
  • Copywriting, storyboarding, and scriptwriting.
  • Music curation using production music libraries (e.g. Universal Music Production)
  • Additional Skills:
  • Project Management and data analysis.
  • Videographic and still photography experience is a plus
  • Experience with media buying direct or via agency a plus.
  • Multicultural or International marketing experience a plus.
  • Influencer marketing experience a plus.

This position requires the employee to work extended hours, weekends and/or holidays.

Travel:

10% of travel time expected for the position both intra and interstate occasionally requiring overnight stay.

Compensation:

$110-120k
