Social Media Content Specialist
Hummingbirds is an all-in-one campaign management platform that fosters authentic connections between local creators (our hummingbirds!) and Brands seeking user-generated content in specific midwest cities. Through our unique approach, we enable organic word-of-mouth marketing (think local influencers!) to create powerful online to offline behavior. Over the last 9 months, Hummingbirds has seen explosive growth and raised over $10M in Seed capital to scale the company.
As a Social Media Content Specialist, your primary goal will be to enhance our Customers' brand presence across digital platforms by acting as the liaison between our creator community and our amazing Brand portfolio! You’ll go deep into social media metrics to help create compelling reports and you’ll craft engaging and innovative campaign briefs inspired by current Instagram and TikTok trends. You will work closely with our proprietary AI tools to generate creative, develop attention-grabbing headlines, and design impactful content inspiration. You'll interact with hummingbirds daily to ensure campaign completion and engage with their content to foster a sense of community. Embracing a consultative and dynamic approach, you will thrive in a fast-paced environment, working both independently and as a team player.
By staying up to date on industry trends and experimenting with new formats, you will ensure our Brands receive fresh and innovative content ideas. This involves regularly scrolling through TikTok and Instagram to spot the latest trends and viral content. You’ll research new tools and techniques, actively seeking out what’s ‘hot’ in social media and digital marketing. Experimenting with various content styles and formats, you’ll analyze what resonates best with different audiences. Your trend-savvy approach will keep our branded’’ campaigns engaging and relevant, and you’ll report on how the posts in your briefs perform. This proactive strategy will help our customers stay ahead of their competition by getting their local community talking about THEM!
Responsibilities include:
- KPI Oriented: Responsible for meeting weekly campaign brief writing targets and achieving metrics collection goals, ensuring timely delivery and measurable success.
- Metrics Reporting: Review content that is posted as part of campaigns and pull reporting on key metrics to evaluate the success of the campaign brief.

Campaign Development: Use our proprietary AI functionality to develop compelling campaign briefs, ensuring alignment with their brand goals and objectives.
- Ensure all creative mirrors the current brand voice and adapts to their standards and guidelines, maintaining consistency across all platforms.
- Attention to Detail: Carefully review all written feedback from internal and external parties and ensure no details are missed or excluded.
- Trend Fluency: Regularly scroll through TikTok and Instagram to stay aware of the latest trends and viral content, keeping Customers' campaigns fresh and relevant.
- Creative Experimentation: Experiment with different content inspiration styles and formats to determine what resonates best with various audiences, optimizing for interest and effectiveness.

Community Enrichment: Engage with content on Instagram by liking and commenting on posts created by our hummingbirds to foster a sense of connection within our communities.
- Sometimes hummingbirds don’t post on time! You’ll be their liaison and remind them as deadlines approach and offer assistance when needed.
- Team Support: Assist with various tasks and responsibilities that arise within the team. Work independently and collaboratively to brainstorm and implement new and innovative content ideas, contributing to a creative and productive environment.
These are some of your traits:
- You have a bachelor's degree in marketing/communications or relevant intern/work experience (i.e. 1-2 years in social media content creation, copywriting, or journalism).
- You are comfortable with using AI tools (think ChatGPT) and are fully functional without training in the Google Suite (gmail, docs, calendar, sheets, etc.)
- You are fluent in current social media trends, regularly scrolling through platforms like TikTok and Instagram to stay ahead of the curve.
- You love brainstorming and implementing new and innovative content ideas, contributing to a collaborative and creative environment.
- You are flexible and ready to assist with various tasks and responsibilities that arise within the team, ensuring smooth operations.
- When faced with something new, you assess quickly whether you can figure it out on your own, need help, and where that help should come from.
- You ensure all content mirrors the current brand voice and adapts to the Brand's standards and guidelines, maintaining consistency across all platforms.
- You enjoy working independently as well as part of a team, contributing to the success of collective goals.
- You are dedicated to understanding and meeting the needs of our customers, delivering tailored and effective campaign briefs.
- You continuously seek out new tools, techniques, and trends to enhance the effectiveness of our campaigns.

Interview Process
We go through the same interview steps for all candidates to ensure equity in our hiring process. Our process is designed to learn as much about each candidate as possible, as well as to give candidates access to our team and learn about what it's like to be a team member at Hummingbirds. Topics will range from technical skills to problem-solving approaches and collaboration.

The pay range for this role is $20-$25 per hour and is a full time remote position.
