Senior Associate, Corporate Communications, Products & Services Public Relations (PR)

The Capital One Corporate Communications team is looking for a creative, curious and results driven communications professional to join a growing group of Public Relations experts. Our Products and Services PR team delivers cutting-edge communications solutions to real-world business challenges across our lines of business (LOBs). This Senior Associate will be a key member of the Products & Services PR team which supports broad-scale external communications for Capital One’s LOBs, encompassing earned media relations; influencer partnerships; executive thought leadership; competitor and category intelligence; issues management; and robust measurement. The role will partner with Corporate Communications and LOB colleagues, external agencies + partners and vendors to increase visibility and consumer engagement with Capital One’s products and services, highlighting the rewards and benefits that come with them. This will include trend discovery, developing media relations and influencer content, and tracking results.

Deliver integrated communications campaigns to target audiences

  • Support the development of full-funnel communications strategies, including paid, earned, shared and owned media
  • Build and foster strong relationships with industry, consumer and financial media contacts, to ultimately increase quality media coverage in priority outlets (focus on national online, print, broadcast)
  • Coordinate the development of powerful, dynamic, influencer content that can be adapted and shared across a variety of internal and external channels
  • Draft effective communications materials, including business-facing content, media correspondence and press materials
  • Collaborate with the broader Corporate Communications team and internal partners (e.g. Business Analysts, Marketing, Social, Content) to plan and execute integrated campaigns that drive awareness and consideration for Capital One products and services

Provide strategic counsel by sharing industry insights and relevant trends to inform communications approach

  • Maintain expert knowledge of the LOB category, including: trends, competitors, and related campaigns and activations
  • Provide communications-related counsel to a range of Business, Marketing and Brand partners, including executives and peers
  • Proactively collaborate with partners across the team and larger organization with the goal of driving creative, streamlined and connected programming
  • Communicate earned media trends and insights from PR campaigns and related findings effectively to internal stakeholders
  • Research and analysis of current PR trends - particularly in the areas of content, emerging channels, influencers, measurement, SEO and storytelling - to foster new, creative thinking

Contribute to Capital One enterprise collaboration and process excellence

  • Maintain effective use of existing processes and identify opportunities to optimize and increase efficiency across the LOB PR team and our broader organization
  • Effectively manage agency partners and vendors
  • Develop compelling slide-based presentations that communicate strategic approaches, tactical plans and results; present them to internal partners and clients
  • Collaborate within LOB organization and broader Corporate Communications and External Affairs team to drive efficiencies and create value for Capital One

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree
• Bachelors Degree in Mass Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, English
• 2 years of experience in Managing communications to wide variety of audiences - business-writing, managing a newsletter or similar type of communication vehicle, editing
• 1 year of experience in Developing communication strategy for department or company
• 1 year of experience in Providing assistance with media events - event planning, preparation, support, logistics
• 1 year of experience in Communicating to a broad audience
• 2 years of experience in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree
• 5 years of experience in Managing communications to wide variety of audiences - business-writing, managing a newsletter or similar type of communication vehicle, editing
• 2 years of experience in Developing communication strategy for department or company

• 2 years of both external and internal communications

• 2 years 360 communications experience

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Plano, TX: $78,400 - $89,500 for Sr. Communications Associate

McLean, VA: $86,300 - $98,400 for Sr. Communications Associate

Richmond, VA: $78,400 - $89,500 for Sr. Communications Associate

New York, NY: $94,100 - $107,400 for Sr. Communications Associate
