Social Media Coordinator

Compensation: $55,000 to $64,000 Annually

This role will create visual content and grow our social media platforms. With 16 locations around the world, this is an opportunity for a content creator passionate about focusing on Asia’s culture, arts, policy, and education, and promoting Asia Society’s mission-driven work to build bridges between Asia and the world. They will be able to generate new and creative ideas for content that drives engagement from existing audiences, while also attracting new unique followers. The ideal candidate will be a go-getter, self-starter, who is excited and dedicated to making social media content that increases the reach of our multiple accounts. They will have strong writing and grammar skills when drafting social copy, and bring an eye for detail when editing video content. As a high-power user of social media, they will know what makes a high-performing vertical video on Instagram and TikTok and be on top of constantly evolving social media trends. Experience with social media analytics is preferred. This is a hybrid work position based in New York City. Reports to the Social Media Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Managing our Instagram, TikTok, and Threads accounts and growing our audience across platforms

Creating vertical video content and graphics

Identifying social clips from our programming videos on YouTube

Covering Asia Society events in person or virtually

Social media content planning and organizing a weekly schedule

Compiling influencer lists for our larger-scale events like Asia Art Game Changers

Securing influencer content collaborations

Working closely with our Museum, Arts & Culture, and Development teams

Performing additional related duties as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in a related/relevant subject area

1-2 years of experience creating and posting social media content. Open to applicants graduating in 2025, who have social media internship experience.

Proven experience with Instagram, TikTok, X, Threads, LinkedIn, and Facebook

Skills and Competencies:

Proficiency in social media video editing on Adobe Premiere, CapCut, or other editing tools

Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Canva, or other design software

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong editorial judgment

Knowledge of social media trends

Strong attention to detail and on top of deadlines

Ability to manage different social media requests and communicate professionally with both internal and external stakeholders

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Basic familiarity with social media data analysis

Preferred Skills:

Scheduling content on social media platforms and third-party scheduling platforms like Sprout

Navigating Meta Business Suite

Interest in Asia and Asia Society’s work

Proficiency in an Asian language is a plus

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Salary Range: $55,000 - $64,000

Compensation within this range is determined by skills, experience, and organizational equity.

Benefit package highlights:

An HRA plan (fully funded by the Asia Society) supplements our medical plan and covers the full annual deductible.

After 1 year of service (1,000 hours), the Asia Society contributes 6% of gross earnings to an eligible employee’s 403(b) account, regardless of whether the employee makes their own contributions.
