Social Media & Influencer Director (Freelance)

About the Role:

We’re looking for a freelance Social Media & Influencer Director to lead the development and execution of integrated social and influencer strategies that drive brand awareness, engagement, and measurable results. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep platform knowledge, strong creative instincts, and a track record of managing influencer partnerships and high-performing social campaigns.

You’ll be the connective tissue between content, strategy, community, and creators—bringing bold ideas to life while ensuring alignment with brand goals and voice.

Key Responsibilities:

Social Media:

  • Develop and oversee holistic social media strategies across platforms (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Meta, Pinterest, Threads, etc.).
  • Guide the development of channel-specific content calendars, ensuring timely, trend-relevant storytelling.
  • Analyze performance metrics and optimize strategy accordingly to drive engagement and growth.
  • Collaborate with creative and copy teams on content that’s both scroll-stopping and strategically sound.
  • Stay current on platform trends, algorithm updates, and cultural moments to inform recommendations.

Influencer Marketing:

  • Build and execute influencer strategies that align with brand objectives—from awareness campaigns to conversion-driven initiatives.
  • Identify and vet creators (macro to micro) that align with brand tone, values, and goals.
  • Manage influencer outreach, negotiations, contracts, and briefing process.
  • Track performance, compile post-campaign reports, and translate learnings into actionable insights.
  • Maintain strong relationships with influencer partners and creator agencies.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in social media and influencer marketing (agency and/or in-house).
  • Deep knowledge of current social platforms, trends, and influencer ecosystem.
  • Proven ability to lead strategy and execution for major campaigns or product launches.
  • Comfortable interpreting analytics and turning data into insights.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience managing budgets, contracts, and reporting.
  • Bonus: Experience with paid social, affiliate marketing, or influencer whitelisting.
