The Assistant Director, Social Media Strategy & Content will assist in leading the Redbirds’ brand development through social media. Responsibilities include monitoring the Illinois State Athletics social media community, increasing engagement and developing creative ways to drive ticket sales and fan attendance through social media. This position will manage assigned sports social media accounts with the goal of showcasing the accomplishments of ISU student-athletes and coaches and sharing all of the great things about being a Redbird to fans, recruits, alumni, etc. The Assistant Director will be tasked with establishing an overall brand and voice for the assigned accounts. This position could also assist in the management of miscellaneous athletics department accounts.

  • Bachelor or equivalent degree in journalism, sports communications, sports marketing, sports management, public relations, communications, English, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years (24 months) of full-time or part-time equivalent professional level work experience in the athletic communications/sports information field, professional athletics or Intercollegiate Athletics social media and content creation.
  • Highly proficient in social media platforms: X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Threads
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite: Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Photoshop
  • Experience in CapCut or similar video editing platforms
  • Organized, detail-oriented, problem solver.
