The Digital Media + Communications Specialist's role has two major responsibilities: managing and maintaining the NC Department of Commerce’s (NCDOC) social media accounts and website and performing other general public information duties. As part of the Communications team, the Digital Media + Communications Specialist will be entrusted with making the best decisions regarding content creation, organization and placement of social media and web content, maintaining NCDOC’s digital media presence and aligning it with the department’s mission and goals. This role will use sound judgement and initiative in handling sensitive information and have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with media representatives as well as employees within the department and others contacted in the course of work.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Writing, updating, and organizing content for the Department’s public facing website and internal website.
- Providing design and content management support for the NCDOC public facing website and internal website.
- Implementing the day-to-day social media strategy and crafting daily engaging content that supports NCDOC services, programs and initiatives.
- Conducting regular content analysis and convey best practices for social and digital media in strategic planning and implementation.
- Completing other public information duties as needed, including writing news releases, articles or proclamations, creating content for collateral materials such as fact sheets or brochures, event preparation, and other tasks as assigned.
