Job Description The Digital Marketing Manager serves as a valuable member of the Marketing Team, leading the digital marketing efforts across all brands within the Bars & Recreation portfolio. This role is responsible for producing and utilizing creative content, copywriting, and using digital design across multiple channels to reach a broad audience, drive revenue, increase community awareness, and connect the Bars & Rec brand and activations to prospective guests.
Social Media (65%)
The Digital Marketing Manager will manage all online and social platforms including promoting all aspects of venue operations (special events, drink specials, partnerships, products, experiences, etc.) through frequent and consistent posting, and reporting on all things occurring within the Bars & Rec portfolio of brands (employee profiles, sneak peeks of upcoming projects, drink demos with team members, owner insights, etc.). The Digital Marketing Manager will achieve this through a strategic combination of pre-scheduled and spontaneous photo, video, and text posts across various social media platforms. Specific tasks include:
- Be Bars & Rec’s chief storyteller/influencer/documentarian. Showcase venue personalities, give “behind-the-scenes" looks, and capture the process of making projects come to life through social media.
- Be onsite during peak business times and events to post live, showing the excitement and energy in the venues while also conducting contests with guests.
- Respond to social media mentions, comments, and direct messages in a timely manner.
- Design, write copy, capture raw video, and take photos for shareable content on various social media channels.
- Write social media strategy that focuses on increasing brand awareness, guest engagement, guest experience, brand development, and conversions.
- Closely monitor pop culture trends to ensure Bars & Rec is leveraging all aspects of social media culture.
- Gather content from team members and synthesize content into a cohesive throughline to demonstrate the social value of a Bars & Rec experience.
- Develop partnerships and interact with other local mainstream social media accounts.
- Comply with (and suggest improvements to) existing brand standards.
- Assist in ideating and executing a comprehensive annual marketing strategy for each brand.
- Track social media insights and report analytics to the Bars & Recreation Executive Leadership Team.
Digital Advertising (10%)
Digital Advertising is used to promote Bars & Rec experiences to targeted audiences, ensuring greater content visibility and strengthened online presence. Specific tasks include:
- Create ads, write copy, and work with Creative Manager(s) as needed.
- Make recommendations about timing and budgets for paid advertising.
- Post and track campaign effectiveness.

Email Marketing (10%)
Email marketing targets guests who are already interested in, or have experience with, Bars & Recreation. Specific tasks include:
- Create, schedule, and send timely e-newsletters and other marketing communications.
- Elevate the guest “buying journey” in order to increase frequency of guest visits at Bars & Rec venues.
- Align the Bars & Rec brand and narrative through effective copywriting.
Media Relations (10%) Media relations efforts help increase visibility and credibility for Bars & Recreation brands by fostering positive relationships with journalists, influencers, and media outlets. Specific tasks include:
- Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and story pitches to secure coverage in local and national media.
- Identify opportunities for Bars & Rec participation in relevant media stories, seasonal features, or local happenings.
- Serve as a point of contact for media inquiries and coordinate interviews with appropriate internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate media visits, press events, and influencer activations, ensuring memorable and brand-aligned experiences.
- Maintain and regularly update a media contact list relevant to hospitality, entertainment, and lifestyle outlets.
- Track and report media coverage and earned media value.
- Work closely with the Director of Marketing to align public relations initiatives with larger brand strategies.
Other (5%)
- Assist operationally as needed with onsite and offsite events.
- Attend meetings as needed.
- Perform other tasks as needed by the Director of Marketing.
Job Location and Tier This position is classified as a [Tier 4] Mobile Employee. A company laptop will be provided in order to work “on-the-go.” This job will also have access to a desk/shared workspace onsite at a facility. A personal cell phone and transportation will be required of the candidate. Per the Remote Work for Exempt Employees Policy in the Bars & Rec Employee Handbook, Mobile Employees do not need to make a request for a Remote Work Agreement, nor do they have limits or guidelines related to how much time or when they can work remotely. However, if an employee is not able to work productively in this type of flexible environment (subject to his or her supervisor’s evaluation), then the employee may be put on a performance improvement plan or the employee may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
Majority of remote work is performed in Milwaukee, WI to ensure availability for content gathering, guest and staff interactions, in-person meetings, or events as needed.
Supervisor This position reports to the Director of Marketing, Brands & Partnerships.
Time Commitment The Digital Marketing Manager requires great flexibility, and is expected to capture, create, and post content as well as engage with customers frequently. Hours will be needed during daytime, evening, and weekend times depending on meetings, special events, and business needs. This job is expected to be self-directed and independent and average no less than 40 hours per week.

Application Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must have an associate or bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or applicable field of study.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience in a professional marketing job with social media responsibility.
- Must have experience with social media management platforms.
- Must be proficient in video production, photography, and graphic/creative design.
- Must have experience in a professional hospitality setting.
- Must have excellent communication skills, especially writing.
- Must have excellent time management, organizational, and project management skills.
- Must be able to work independently and contribute in a team environment.
- Must have (or be willing to obtain) personal transportation and a personal cell phone.
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have open availability and be able to work days, nights, and weekends.
- Must be able to read, understand, and follow the Bars & Recreation Employee Handbook.
