The Director Marketing Strategy is a strategic force on both client accounts and within the agency. This individual is a seasoned strategist who sees the big picture and all of its moving parts—spanning paid media, owned experiences, content, CRM, digital platforms, emerging channels, and more. They “see the matrix”—leveraging AI tools, competitive intelligence, and market foresight to uncover whitespace, solve complex marketing problems, and drive business growth This is not a CRM strategist, not an analytics strategist, and not a content strategist—this is an omnichannel strategy role, responsible for aligning every channel and experience touchpoint to deliver unified, measurable, and high-performing marketing solutions. They are a data-first thinker who instinctively turns to evidence to inform, validate, and challenge strategic direction—connecting the dots between behavior, performance, and business impact.
This role blends thought leadership with operational excellence. The Director-level Strategist leads high-impact initiatives including business and marketing strategy development, business solution frameworks, media and analytics direction, content and conversion strategy, and customer insights. They ensure all strategic components are fully aligned with business objectives and integrated across agency teams.
What you will DO:
- Drive Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), including framework and content development.
- Own strategic road mapping and cross-channel strategic planning.
- Conduct deep market research, competitive benchmarking, and trend analysis.
- Develop and evolve proprietary strategy processes, frameworks, and tools.
- Craft insight-driven narratives that influence omnichannel decision-making across creative, media, content and customer experience teams.
- Lead customer journey mapping and holistic lifecycle marketing strategy that integrates CRM, media, content and digital touchpoints
- Translate data into action through performance tracking and KPI interpretation.
- Lead business and marketing strategy development from ideation to execution.
- Develop and approve strategy briefs, QBR frameworks, media and analytics direction.
- Shape content strategy, conversion optimization initiatives, and customer insights.
- Author and review new business proposals and competitive analyses.
- Build and maintain comprehensive client profiles.
- Guide AI usage and customer experience (CX) test design.
What you will APPROVE:
- Review and approve key agency outputs including:
- Creative briefs and digital briefs
- Customer journey design and journey business rules
- Media test plans and direction
- Content strategies including SEO and influencer marketing
- UX design, landing pages, and digital experience direction
- Market research, competitive intelligence, and analytical model builds
- Reporting insights and strategic recommendations

- You will write omnichannel strategies that drive measurable business growth and client satisfaction.
- You will have seamless collaboration across creative, media, data, and client service teams.
- Clients will rely on you as a big - picture strategic advisor, not just a tactician or channel specialist.
- Continually produce forward-thinking, insight-driven approaches that elevate Tandem Theory’s reputation in the market.
What you should have:
- Curiosity and a drive to understand “why”
- 5-7 years in marketing strategy, consulting, or a related discipline; agency experience preferred in omnichannel strategy solutions.
- Demonstrated leadership in marketing strategy, media planning, analytics integration, and content direction.
- Deep understanding of CRM, customer lifecycle, and omnichannel experience optimization.
- Proven ability to lead large, cross-functional teams and influence C-level stakeholders.
- Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting and marketing investment optimization.
- Mastery of strategic storytelling—translating complex data into actionable insights.
- Advanced understanding of marketing technologies, AI applications, and data ecosystems.

The salary for this exempt-level position will be based on experience and qualifications within an established pay range. Benefits include 85% employer paid medical, eligibility to participate in vision and dental insurance as well company paid STD, LTD coverage plus a flat amount company paid toward Basic Life and AD&D, as well as a generous 401(k) retirement contribution plan eligible after 90-days of employment.
Working Conditions:
We operate as a work, not live, from anywhere model and utilize the office space as a co-working space as needed. That said, whether in the office or at a remote location, we try to operate in the traditional office norm model. You will be working with a computer, telephone, copier, or other office equipment as necessary for long stretches of time. There may be some occasional long, irregular hours. You are expected to communicate effectively (verbal and written), and maintain professionalism under stress. Occasionally you will need to bend, pull, push and/or reach to access job-related materials. You will also be expected to work with frequent interruptions such as Slack messages, emails, phone calls, drive-by visits to your desk, whether that is from a co-worker at the office or your dog barking while working remotely. You are required to attend all video conference calls on camera, as it is important to see facial expressions and reactions to enhance connection and collaboration.
