Reporting to the SVP of Commercial, we are seeking a highly strategic VP of Marketing. This position is responsible for the overall development of uniQure’s Marketing strategy & execution including launch preparation to support commercialization through to lifecycle maintenance. The role ensures close collaboration across all areas of Marketing with Commercial and Medical functions including Account Management, Market Access, Medical Affairs & Business Operations.
Key result areas (major duties, accountabilities and responsibilities)
Marketing Leadership
- Build and manage a team of high performing, experienced marketing professionals to achieve business goals
- Develop short and long-range operating plan
- Develop and maintain annual Marketing budgets
- Lead all aspects of advertising agency engagement – including selection, contracting – and overseeing all budgets, SOWs and development and deployment of all tactics.
Develop & Implement Marketing Strategy & Vision
- Collaborating with Account Management, Market Access, Medical Affairs and Business Operations, to develop comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with corporate goals and business objectives.
- Core deliverables include the development and implementation of strategic plans that deliver exceptional results for brand positioning, messaging, KOL engagement, patient initiatives and other promotional materials.
- Partner with Market Access to establish strategically aligned pricing, reimbursement, and distribution plans.
Lead the overall Launch Plan Process
- In collaboration with the cross functional launch team, develop a comprehensive launch plan ensuring each function is aligned with the corporate vision for the successful launch of uniQure’s lead asset.
- Create and maintain an environment where patient need is the north star to the mission.
Brand Management
- Oversee the development and execution of branding strategies to enhance brand awareness, reputation, and market position
- Ensure brand consistency across all marketing channels and materials.
Market Research & Insights
- In close collaboration with the Business Operations team, conduct market research and analysis to identify market trends, competitive landscape, customer needs and opportunities.
- Translate insights into actionable strategies to differentiate uniQure in the market.
Digital and Multichannel Marketing
- Drive digital marketing initiatives and lead the multichannel marketing strategy to engage patient advocacy, healthcare professional and payors.
Marketing Compliance
- Ensure all marketing activities and materials comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies to highest ethical standards.
- Partner with Legal, Compliance and Regulatory teams to mitigate risks.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, life sciences, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical and biotech marketing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of successfully launching rare disease products is essential; gene therapy launch experience is desirable.
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical skills, and business acumen.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build and develop a strong team with a ‘oneuniQure’ mindset who will serve patients, build a successful brand, and collaborate with the cross functional team.
- Ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of healthcare compliance regulations and industry guidelines.
