Responsibilities

The Opportunity: (Virtual / Remote)

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Public Relations Senior Manager to shape our public narrative, enhance our brand reputation, and manage media relations. You will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive PR strategies that align with our mission and values across diverse platforms. The ideal candidate is a strategic storyteller with a proven track record of securing positive media coverage and building strong industry relationships.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who blends a journalist's curiosity with a communicator's finesse, able to turn complex data into headlines and human stories that resonate with journalists, customers, partners, and industry influencers.

You will report directly to the Director of External Communications.

What you’ll do:

  • Create PR campaigns to shape public perception and achieve organizational goals.
  • Create press-ready content assets, write and distribute press releases, speeches, and social media posts.
  • Manage media relations, respond to media inquiries, coordinate interviews, and build and maintain relationships with journalists.
  • Monitor public opinion by tracking media coverage and analyze public sentiment through social media, surveys, or other tools.
  • Prepare and manage the organization's response during crisis situations to protect its reputation.
  • Organize, plan and coordinate press conferences, product launches, and other public events.
  • Collaborate with marketing, leadership, and other departments to ensure consistent messaging and strategy alignment.
  • Develop weekly media digest for functional leaders that connect the media landscape to relevant brand opportunities and real-time press moments.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For:

  • Data Storytelling Expertise: 7+ years in PR, communications, content, or journalism roles with a strong portfolio of data-driven stories, reports, or campaigns that have achieved media traction.
  • Strong Editorial Skills: Proven ability to distill complex datasets into clear, compelling narratives with both strategic and tactical execution.
  • PR Agency Leadership: Experience managing an external PR agency or equivalent, with a track record of delivering measurable results in earned media.
  • Media Savvy: Deep understanding of what makes a story newsworthy, how to package data for journalists, and how to build relationships in the press.
  • Content Development: Proficiency in briefing designers on charts, infographics, and visuals that bring stories to life.
  • Business Acumen: Ability to align storytelling with brand positioning, business priorities, and target audience needs.
  • Collaboration Skills: Comfortable working cross-functionally with marketing, analytics, product, and executive teams to develop and deploy communications initiatives.

Other/State Specific

This role pays between $103,100 to $128,900 and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, responsibilities, experience, and location.
