Job Summary
The associate manager of brand communications exhibits a solid working knowledge of PR and influencer marketing and measuring the success of our efforts. The associate manager will work collaboratively with the manager and director of Brand Communications to develop a strategic approach to influencer relations and public relations and will manage the day-to-day activities supporting two business units of Newell Brands’ globally recognized brands. The associate manager will support the marketing organization with their annual integrated marketing planning and budgeting.
The associate manager will be responsible for identifying and managing our relationship with the influencer marketing and public relations agencies of record and developing and refining ways of working. The associate manager will help update the Influencer Marketing playbook to articulate our approach to vetting, managing and measuring the success of influencer relations on behalf of our brands. In collaboration with our agency partners and the manager of Brand Communications, the associate manager will set the strategic approach for influencer relations and public relations for two business units of brands. While staying on top of relevant trends and consumer packed goods case studies, the associate manager will be responsible for communicating and promoting best practices and providing strategic counsel to ensure the success of influencer and public relations programs. The associate manager will also help our organization and agency partners effectively measure and analyze the results of our influencer and public relations efforts based on the current industry best practices on key performance indicators.
The associate manager will collaborate with the marketing organization and agencies of record and contribute to building and executing high-impact integrated campaigns that will engage with consumers and influencers online and generate media coverage. The associate manager of public relations and influencer marketing will be a business partner to brand development, brand activation, CMI, eMarketing, DTC, legal and our agency partners.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the manager of Brand Communications to create a PR and influencer marketing strategy for our brands
- Manage the day-to-day influencer and public relations activities supporting two business units of brands
- Be a business partner to brand development, brand activation, CMI, eMarketing, DTC, legal and our agency partners
- Build and manage relationships with target media and influencers to create and leverage social media content on owned and earned social channels
- Help facilitate proactive and reactive relations with target traditional media (including broadcast, print, and online)
- Draft press materials, including product fact sheets, press releases, etc.
- Facilitate all sample requests as necessary for media/blogger opportunities
- Support media/blogger inquiries and help research and provide the appropriate response on behalf of the brand
- Provide necessary research and data to help build out the annual/campaign PR brief
- Help to monitor, analyze and merchandise influencer and public relations KPI’s, including but not limited to impressions, engagement rate, earned media value, video views, key message penetration, share of voice and sentiment
- Collaborate with the manager and cross-functional marketing teams to develop public relations and influencer briefs; Participate in the briefing of our agency partners on our influencer and public relations priorities
- Collaborate with the manager, as well as our agency partners to develop strategic, creative and measurable PR and influencer plans on behalf of the brands
- Manage our agency partners to build and manage relationships with target media and influencers to create and leverage social media content on owned and earned social channels
Qualifications
- 4-year college degree, preferably in PR, Communications, Marketing or related field
- 3-6 years of public relations/social media experience
- Required Skills/Competencies:
- Time management skills as well as the ability to work within a team environment
- Ability to collaborate in a cross-functional environment and manage an agency
- Experience promoting both consumable and durable products to consumers
- Keen sense of consumer trends
- Professional presence with exceptional verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to work in a matrix organization, interacting with all levels of marketing and business functions globally
- Ability to thrive under pressure, meet deadlines, multi-task and adapt to shifting priorities and challenges
